Anil, I have taken the liberty to apply a Trust Enablement filter to your 18 policies in order to determine how they contribute to creating conditions for electorate trust. It would appear that these policies focus more on preserving trust than on building trust. I found your article interesting, because I have observed corporate cultures to be too "risk management" oriented, or as you put it "away from motivated". Instead I propose a balanced approach between what I call, "Trust Enablement" and "risk management". I like to use a football analogy, which has both an offensive and a defensive line, and like to ask organizations who on their team is playing offense and who defense. Risk management has grown to be a significant business competency from the board room to the mail room. Where is the counterbalance? Thank you for your feedback. I enjoyed reading your review of the Speed of Trust. I have the book, as well as his father's 7 Habits and The 8th Habit. "M.R"'s makes a significant contribution to generating awareness about this important issue and introducing the idea that trust considerations have far broader applicability than simply the interpersonal relationships of leaders.

Thank you. I missed that story in Business Week. It confirms my reasons for hesitating to take Trust Enablement to a social network until now: a) I was unable to find an appropriate place for an "intelligent debate"; and b) it was difficult to find a community that had an interest in discussing "trust", which thanks to Stephen "M. R." Covey, gather.com now provides.

When he talks about devotion, it sounds like he is describing "blind faith". I am more of a believer in "smart trust", to use Stephen M. R. Covey's term. Trust is something you give to someone who has earned it. Loyalty and devotion are things you take from someone who owes you something or over whom you have control/power.
