President Barack Obama
Briefly, 2 things:
1. It would appear that CHANGE has indeed come to America.
The www.change.gov transition website is now obsolete. See? Look below. Now, we should contact the President at his new "lay" or "crib":

Just where is his new "crib", or home? Didn't you see?
2. Your comments.
Would you be kind enough to post your thoughts regarding this day,
January 20, 2009?
What I plan to do with them is a tad unconventional. President Obama is associated with several sites, other than
What I plan to do is to post YOUR gather.com comments on THAT site, on my blog there, as well as the other sites Obama with which the President (Obama) is associated. I'm wanting my Gather friends' feelings to be heard in other venues about this particular day. So, whether I get 10 opinions/thoughts, 20, or no matter the number, this is what I plan to do, and YOU shall be what others shall see of the Gather community.
Thanks much!
Also, congratulations to the United States of America. As President Obama said today,
"This is a moment that will define a generation."
CHANGE! The vehicle for YOUR hopes and YOUR dreams.

Everybody!!!
I LOVE YA!!!!!!!!!!
:=)
That is an excellent comment, and I thank you for it. I'm serious about posting these comments to the
www.barackobama.com blog, as well as
myspace
Facebook
and the other blogs with which Obama is associated.
We here on this thread shall have our place in history, as anything that gets posted on his site(s) most certainly shall -- from here on out. So, it is important that we reflect about what we say, and express our "parts", and the roles we have played in his campaign.
People like those above -- most of whom I've known for a long time and I know have been long-time Obama supporters shall have much to say about their experiences. You have much more to say yourself, Brian. I recall your saying that you saw Obama long before he was even elected to office, handing out flyers on the corners as a community organizer, yet sincere and dedicated to his purpose. You say that in all these years, he has not changed his philosophy; success has NOT spoiled or corrupted him. What a story you must have to tell, Brian.
The White House site is looking really spiffy. I love it!
Hate to hear about your having the flu. You know what to do, though, yes + feel better soon, and hugs to you. Thank you for the excellent comment.
Thank you, too DiAnA D. Despite the challenges that we Americans face, we have much for which to be proud.
I always thought there you were in San Francisco for some reason. It is nearly just as important to get the reactions and thoughts of neighbors, and the world's opinion as it is that of U.S. citizens, since so much of our future is dependent on world unity and cooperation. Thank you for your thoughts, and telling us about the Canadians. Thank your wife as well!
Ahhhhhh..........what a day!!!!!!!!!!
I've been watching most of the day, and will continue watching for most of the evening.
Our country needs wholeness, we crave healing of the wounds caused by racial prejudice. It's time...carrying that hatred around hurts us all in so many ways. My prayer is that each of us will willingly put it down and be truly free...and whole.
My eyes were opened today on the limitations of the dreams our black citizens have carried for so long; telling their children that "you can do anything" when it simply wasn't true: when the highest office in the land has never been held by any other than a white man, it is difficult to believe that all our people's dreams can indeed come true. Has the world righted itself yet? I caught a glimpse and am truly joyful for my brother- and sister-Americans of color that reality has finally caught up with the possibilities. Today, we are now TRULY a Land of Opportunity for ALL our people.
When will this happen for women? Someday...someday. One barrier has fallen, and much sooner than most would have predicted--that gives me much hope that a woman will be President within my lifetime. The more barriers that fall, the more we will turn to "the content of our character" as the yardstick we use to take the measure of a person.
But FIRST, let's celebrate the new vistas of opportunity that have opened for those who could believe in them fully before now...and everyone put their shoulders to whatever task comes their way, whole-heartedly, to help our new President in his efforts to lead our country out of the trials that beset us.
It's a new day...may God bless us all!
What an extraordinary moment in history.
It is now incumbent upon each of us
as we move forward
in this moment in time,
as we remain true
to the goodness
in our nature
and leave the bad behind,
as we reach out to someone,
to anyone in need,
to give him/her
a hand up
thereby creating
and strengthening
the chain of community
started by our 44th president.
The “yes we can,”
will become “yes we did,”
when we take
a hold of the opportunity
that we as a nation
are being given today ...
to say yes "we" will.
The USA is truly
being given an opportunity
and another chance
and our 44th President
has the leadership skills
to pull us all together
to move forward in a new
and responsible direction.
I volunteered.
I wrote five poems that are inclusded in the Detroit generated "coffee table" book 44th.
I may also have one poem featured in the inagural book by the same organization.
This is very frightening. Monsanto wants to own patents on all the food in the world. They MUST be stopped, by ANY means.
Whenever I have written to www.barackobama.com, the article always goes to the Internet -- Internetwide, and easily searchable, so I've had to delete those articles in the past.
I shall NOT delete this one; it stays!
I attended a West Coast Inaugural bash last evening, called, "Inauguration West", which was held in the city of San Francisco, California. Since I have been spending a good deal of time in San Francisco lately, I noticed that something has changed, and the change had occurred in the last day or two.
In the financial district, there is a well-known street named "Bush street". Now, last night, after leaving the Inaugural event, we passed Bush Street, however somebody or "somebodies" has gone to some effort to [AHEM] CHANGE the name from "Bush street" to "Obama street". I found this interesting, so we drove down Bush street to see if it was just one altering, or not. It was NOT just one altering. Someone had been QUITE busy.
Let us see just how Mayor Gavin Newsome shall handle this one. I'm certain that if those street signs are replaced, the same "somebody(ies) who made this CHANGE in the first place shall return to do the same thing again. (When San Franciscans become "inspired", they REMAIN INSPIRED.
Interesting, isn't it.
I'm going back to bed. Don't know about your Inaugural party, but the one here? These people were PARTY ANIMAL NUTS!!! They wore me out!!!
:=)
I sat at home alone most of the day, talking back and forth to our daughter online. Every TV in our house was on and tuned to CNN. You see, I was painting door frames in the middle of it all and didn't want to miss a thing. I have watched several inaugurations in my time. Actually, I have half watched them. I've watched almost all of the swearing ins and just caught bits and pieces of the rest of the festivities. The moment the first shot of him walking out appeared, so did the tears. I felt such a relief. It was like I was breathing again for the first time in years. My daughter said she sobbed like a little girl. It was the equivalent of a huge hug. And the entire country was in on it.
I know he is the People's President. He is there for us.
My thoughts on the inauguration.....where to start? First, for the first time, I was "invested" in this election and this man. Barack Obama was the very first Presidential candidate to whom I've made a financial contribution. I even proudly placed a sticker/magnet on my car (something I "never" do). WHY? Because he reminded me of the way I felt about JFK. He made me think anything was possible. As an Obama supporter, I was definitely in the "minority" here in Oklahoma, but sometimes it takes this ultra-conservative state a couple of years to catch up, so I remain hopeful.
As much as I believed in Barack Obama, I still had some reservations: Could America really prove it's 'color-blind' by electing this man? My feelings of exuberant joy on election night were replaced with unbelievable optimism and pride on Inauguration Day. There were many times I was moved to tears watching the festivities before, during and after. It was indescribable, knowing that WE, THE PEOPLE really did this! And Barack Obama made us realize we COULD do it.
I was so emotional about it, and I'm just a middle-aged white woman from Oklahoma. I can't imagine what the depths of my feelings might have been had I had a grandmother who was forbidden from drinking from a public water fountain, or eating at a restaurant or forced to endure countless other racist episodes inflicted upon our fellow Americans for hundreds of years.
At some intellectual level, I've always been sympathetic, but now, at least in a tiny degree, I can almost feel what it must have been like to see Barack Obama sworn in on January 20. ..to now be able to honestly tell your children (whatever color they may be) that ANYTHING is possible in America. It was not only one of the most significant days in American history, it was magical!
one and all!
Listen, and check this out:
I am working this, and -- it would seem -- about a 1000 (thousand) other things right now, which is the reason I've not been on Gather much.
I've not lost sight of doing a jammin' transfer of this thread to Obama's site, as well as some others . . .room to breathe, though, and
I want to do you all JUSTICE -- make it pretty, professional, and worthy of you and the President. Give me just a little more time on it. In the meantime, that allows time for even more comments, doesn't it.
Thank you again for your excellent thoughts! The President's gotta love it!
Now, THAT's what I'm talkin' about!
Possibly for Connections Only, but then again, you never know.
Alrighty?

The Official Presidential Photo: Great shot. I wonder what he'll look like in 4 more years --
In 4 years? Let us keep the President in our prayers, Patty. President Obama carries a heavy load. No man should ever be faced with such a load as he has upon him.
Then too, it was brought out that yesterdayANY MAN with the strength, positivity, self-confidence, and wisdom to not only be able to attract, but also win over someone as brilliant, self-confident . . .(we all know HER CREDENTIALS now, and that at one time SHE was Obama's boss), . . .as a Michelle Robinson, now Michelle Obama, is a man who could do ANYTHING, including RULE THE WORLD.
Michelle and Barack are a DYNAMIC DUO, and he himself describes her as his best friend and closest confidente. A person's mate ALWAYS speaks volumes about the person. Barack was correct when he said that were she running against him, she would beat him. He said that about her, and frankly, I have to agree with him; Michelle may not want to be as deeply involved in the politically arena as say . . .a Hillary Clinton, but it is merely a choice, and not due to incompetence, or lack of qualifications.
Michelle Obama is as awesome as Barack, and we women should be proud of that!
We -- who support Barack, LOVE our Country, and wish to defend and uphold our Constitution for ourselves and posterity MUST pray for President Obama daily, and STAY ENGAGED.
Talking the talk without walking the walking is shallow; it means NOTHING.
Each one not only reach one, but also TEACH ONE, and thereby insure that they may STAY engaged as well.
And with that, I must be about the President's business!
Later!
Thank you so much!
I should never get so busy that I forget to do justice to my Lady . . .
