Hey, well I was just wondering if anyone else does things like me. At first thought they sound fantastic, like a clever idea... but in practice, it doesn't turn out so well. One that stands out in my mind was the day I brought a coffee maker I had picked up at the local 'free store' I was so pleased at getting a coffee maker for free that I didn't stop and question how I was going to clean it! I know, my mom used vinegar to clean the pot growing up, too. But, I seriously didn't have a drop of vinegar in the house (my friend suggested that I dump all my vinegar in the dishwasher because it was clogging up on me... that didn't work either.) So, I started to rummage through what I did have... and I did have pine sol!
Now, before you roll your eyes at my stupidity, let me just say that I did run 5 pots of plain water through to get rid of the chemicals, but even so my next pot of coffee tasted like pine sol! I ended up resolving the problem by wasting some pots of coffee by running a couple of pots through and dumping them out till the coffee tasted like coffee again!
But, I'll just bet that no one else ever deals with stuff like this!

Bleach would have been a better idea. Or baking soda.
Ooo, baking soda, should have tried that! I would have used bleach, but unfortunately I am a bleach addict when it comes to cleaning and I was plumb out at this time, but that is good to know for future reference! In fact I think I have a juicer I got from the free store in one of my cupboards maybe need to test how bleaching works on that! Hehe.
That sounds like something I'd do! Great story thanks for sharing it!!
I hate pine sol, so I wouldn't have done exactly that, but I have done many things where afterwards I'm like, boy, was that dumb!
I don't have pine sol, so I wouldn't have used that. I'm not sure what I would have used in your position.
I sure have done my share of dumb things over the years:) Don't worry you might remember not to do so next time:)
I very rarely make the same mistake twice!
No I just forget to turn it on, or to put the pot under it, waking up to a mess,
Too,Funny !! LOL" Next Time Baking Soda."
