The Sox hosted the first place Toronto Blue Jays last night and came away with a win, 2-1. It turned out to be a pitcher's duel, with Tim Wakefield out-pitching Brian Tallet of the Jays. Wakefield pitched a great game, giving up only 5 hits over 8 innings, with the only run coming on Kevin Millar's solo home run in the fifth inning.
Papelbon remains perfect in save opportunities
Papelbon came in for the ninth inning and set the Jays down one, two, three. He absolutely blew Adam Lind away with a 95 mph fastball, and then got the last two batters to ground out weakly for his 11th save in 11 tries.
What's wrong with Big Papi?
David Ortiz was back in the line-up after sitting for three games, but the story was the same as he went hitless in four at bats, striking out twice. Red Sox Nation is wondering if Big Papi has lost it as radio show callers are calling for him to be benched permanently. I think that's a little extreme, but with no home runs in 147 at bats this season, Ortiz better turn it around soon or his legacy in Boston will lose some of it's luster.
