Yikes! It sounds very controlling.
So if I go in with a heart attack the doctor will not be able to treat me unless it goes by guidlines.

BS the public option is good because it give the government the right to negotiate for a lower price that the public would pay for medical expense.If a Dr. refused to accept the deal the government offer.the government will find another Dr. who would accept the deal.If you new anything about government contract.the person with the lowest bid gets the deal.

You know you've touched a nerve when they start fighting back. The interesting thing is, they fight with personal attacks not the facts. I have yet seen one counter argument from Obama and his flunkies that actually shows the errors of the critics.

We are definitely facing a health care crisis. Anyone who think government medical care will be the ultimate answer hasn't received "treatment" at a veterans hospital or community clinic. On the other hand, my friend has double insurance (she is severely disabled on one side but was not a pre-existing condition as she always had insurance) and somehow wound up with a hefty bill from an out of network provider. She never imagined with all the coverage she had that she would wind up such a bill. (Her husband has excellent policies for decades as a retired police officer who works in security at a public school now).

The big problem is the insurance companies are getting away with too much. They need stricter regulations so people are assured of coverage and complete care. Capped premiums, no more pre-existing conditions and total coverage that includes optical and dental (since when did seeing and chewing become an option?) With what's on the table now, I don't know when this country will ever have a viable health plan. Of course the longer it takes, the more people suffer and possibly die. Population control, power struggles, whatever the reasons are, ongoing stalling and bantering are at the everyday citizen's expense.

As one with chronic illnesses, I don't think insurance companies should be forced to cover everyone at the same cost. Sure, pre-existing conditions should be covered, but at a higher premium. It makes no sense that my 25 year old healthy son should pay the same premiums as his chronically ill mother.

One of the problems we have is that people think that because they have insurance, they don't have to worry about the costs. We all have to worry about them And we can question the costs and the procedures. We don't need the government for that.

There will probably be a new set of recommendations put in place that will stop a lot of treatment especially for older patients. We will probably start seeing a lot of articles that will tell us that those treatments don't work for the elderly, don't prolong life, etc. and that the best course of action is simply pain control. The spin will make a lot of people believe that these measures are not done for cost control but for the benefit of the patient.

You're right. Spin works well in this country. And we seem to be good at changing history as well.

Beats me, Matthew. Medicare, Medicaid and the VA system are all poorly run and not cost effective. They give care where it makes no sense and refuse care where it's needed.

Many medical doctor receive money under the table from insurance companies without any regards to how their behaviour will effect the financial situation of their clients.Many people have been dropped by their health insurance simple because they would not accept an experimental drugs,or they ran out of money to pay medical bills,they lost their jobs.Insurance companies refused to pay Dr. to treat clients who could not pay.

The public option would forced Dr to see client who could not pay,or who are on fixed income.and forced insurance companies to pay Dr for treating clients who could not pay.
