Daily Whine & Shine - Monday, October 26, 2009
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Whether you agree with the concept or not, everyone needs to be able to vent from time to time. That's especially true if you're one of the many who suffer from an invisible illness. We have whines and rants about pains, medical professionals and prescriptions, just to name a few. Perhaps our families listen; perhaps they don't. Even if they do, they get tired of our complaining, even if they claim to understand our struggles. Or if they don't get tired of our "negative energy" we think they do or will.
Do you need to rant about something? Tell us about it.
Do you have some celebration or victory you need to share? This is the place.
What's happening in your world today? Are you grumpy about something? Or so angry you could spit? Tell it here. Here at the Weekend Chew & Stew, it's acceptable to rant, vent, complain, stomp your feet, throw a tantrum, and shout, "Oh shuckie darn!"
Wait! Don't go away! Do you have some good news to share? Great. This is the place for that as well. If you're celebrating, dancing, and yelling, "Yippee Skippy!" please share. Sometimes knowing about someone else's happiness gives us a bit of hope for ourselves.
Whether you're shouting, "Oh shuckie darn!" or yelling, "Yippee skippy!" - this is the place to be. Pull up a rocking chair, and let's talk about it.
Now, let's celebrate!!!

Food for thought:
We hang petty theives and appoint the great ones to public office. ~ Aesop
Those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version of heaven on earth. And let me remind you, they are the very ones who always create the most hellish tyrannies. Absolute power does corrupt, and those who seek it must be suspect and must be opposed. ~ Barry Goldwater
If we get a government that reflects more of what this country is really about, we can turn the century -- and the economy -- around. ~ Bella Abzug
The only sure bulwark of continuing liberty is a government strong enough to protect the interests of the people, and a people strong enough and well enough informed to maintain its sovereign control over the government. ~ Franklin D. Roosevelt

October is clergy appreciation month and this week is pastoral care week. Be kind to your pastor this week. (Every week, actually, but particularly this week.)
It's also.....Disarmament Week; International Magic Week; National Respiratory Care Week; Peace, Friendship & Good Will Week; Give Wildlife a Break Week; and World Hearing Aid Awareness Week.
It's just your typical Florida, National Mincemeat Day
Got to see my grandchildren yesterday! Yeaaaa!
Other than that, everything else is ho humish.
Hubby had a feeling that something was wrong with our short term disability claim, so he asked me to deal with it. I found the number for the insurance company and called them - I found out that no claim had even been opened and we were supposed to get our first payment on Friday. According to the rep it could take up to 5 business days from when they get the paperwork to approve the claim - so that means we could be waiting a long time for our money to finally come in. I called his companies HR department where the guy who handles this stuff swears he sent the paperwork to the insurance company back on the 14th. Grrr! So now I am waiting to hear back from him.
Also, I am bugged because my cell phone had pretty good coverage until we canceled our home phone, now I can't stand inside the house and make a phone call - the only place I get any signal is outside on my front porch (not very practical when it is snowing or cold). I have been trying to make all these phone calls and I keep cutting out and loosing the connection. I am almost ready to opt for home service again, except one of the reasons we canceled it was because it was too expensive.
Beautiful day outside. Not sure if I will get out or not - baby just wants to be held and I am really tired. I would love to take a nap, but hubby expects a lot of things to get done today and I need to get those things done :(
Have you checked with your phone company about options for the home phone? Most have a cheap phone plan for people with limited income. I had a party line in FL in the 90s and in TX until 2003. And I trained for a phone company briefly in MI in 2005, where they still had that option...but didn't tell anyone. The whole time my ex and I had a party line in FL and the whole time I had one in TX, it was like having a private line...because no one else was ever hooked up to the party line. :)
there are so many things that need to be done and I just don't have time to do it all
I'm not comfortable living where I am living, which the stress from that is really getting to me
