Daily Whine & Shine - Thursday, August 6, 2009
by Marilyn Mackenzie
Whether you agree with the concept or not, everyone needs to be able to vent from time to time. That's especially true if you're one of the many who suffer from an invisible illness. We have whines and rants about pains, medical professionals and prescriptions, just to name a few. Perhaps our families listen; perhaps they don't. Even if they do, they get tired of our complaining, even if they claim to understand our struggles. Or if they don't get tired of our "negative energy" we think they do or will.
Do you need to rant about something? Tell us about it.
Do you have some celebration or victory you need to share? This is the place.
What's happening in your world today? Are you grumpy about something? Or so angry you could spit? Tell it here. Here at the Daily Whine & Shine , it's acceptable to rant, vent, complain, stomp your feet, throw a tantrum, and shout, "Oh shuckie darn!"
Wait! Don't go away! Do you have some good news to share? Great. This is the place for that as well. If you're celebrating, dancing, and yelling, "Yippee Skippy!" please share. Sometimes knowing about someone else's happiness gives us a bit of hope for ourselves.
Whether you're shouting, "Oh shuckie darn!" or yelling, "Yippee skippy!" - this is the place to be. Pull up a rocking chair, and let's talk about it.
Now, let's celebrate!!!

Food for Thought:
The function of government is to obey orders, not originate them. ~ Mark Twain
A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor and bread it has earned -- this is the sum of good government. ~ Thomas Jefferson
A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have. ~ Thomas Jefferson
A Cherokee Legend
A Grandfather from the Cherokee Nation was talking with his grandson.
"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves."
"One wolf is evil and ugly: He is anger, envy, war, greed, self-pity, sorrow, regret, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, selfishness and arrogance."
"The other wolf is beautiful and good: He is friendly, joyful, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, justice, fairness, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, gratitude, and deep vision."
"This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other human as well."
The grandson paused in deep reflection because of what his grandfather had just said. Then he finally cried out; "Oyee! Grandfather, which wolf will win?"
The elder Cherokee replied, "The wolf that you feed."

Hi Marilyn ! ! !
; )
heeheehee..........
: )
I LOVE that Native American legend! "Which one will win? The one that we feed"
Shine: Hubby graduated with a 3.95 GPA. He also got honors and was admitted in to a fraternity. He found out today that Walden U has accepted his application and he starts the first week of September on his Masters in Psychology. I am super excited that he will not be attending Ashford anymore. Their policies are a little wacky for me. Walden will send excess funds 2 weeks after they get them - so we will always know when our money will be mailed and we can count on it :)
I have the hospital tour tonight at 5pm. I am hoping that it goes well and I am able to get all my questions answered.
That's all I can think of right now...still too angry at Ashford!
He works over 40 hours a week with troubled youth, plus lifts weights or runs everyday. Plus he walks our two large dogs and tries to have some family time. I don't know how he does it all!
This month he had planned to follow a program to write a book in a month, but I am not sure how he is doing on it so far, since he now has to take some classes for new students before school starts.
I bought a new mouse pad...really needed one. This new one is more of a fabric surface, what my husband said our wireless mouse needed. I made sure it had a wrist rest this time. But whenever I go to use the mouse...its starts jumping all over. Do you know how hard it is to click on something with the pointer to the mouse is going where ever it wants on the computer screen? very annoying...I wish I could get it to stop.
