The Minister's Cat

There have been a few inquiries into my status message about The Minister's Cat. So I hope this helps.

The Minister's Cat is a victorian parlour game based around the alphabet. You can play with 2 to as many people as you can. There are two ways to play.

The first way is that everyone starts with the letter A and using that letter they describe The Minister's Cat.

eg: The Minister's Cat is an allegorical cat.

Then you continue with the next letter of the alphabet and so on once everyone has had a chance to come up with their best shot.

The second way is that one person starts with A, the next with B, etc.

The trick is to use as big of a word as you can, but just remember that you have to be able to give the definition of the word if the other's can't figure it out.

This is a great way to pass the time in a car, or to help your kids expand their vocabulary.

Give it a try sometime. Depending on the people playing, it could be quite entertaining.

An Echo In The Bone by Diana Gabaldon. i actually first learned of The Minister's Cat through one of her books in this series. i've been reading them for 14 or more years now. i have about 30 pages left of the book before the new one to read. (all her books are close to 2k pages).

yes it is. they are like old friends to me at this point and whenever i'm feeling particularly down, i re-read them. i'm overjoyed that she wrote another one since she said she was done. her fans changed her mind i guess.

I love when a series starts to feel like family. I still reread the Anne of Green Gables books every few years for exactly that reason -- they're comforting. Whatever else might let me down, I know those books won't.
