The Thoughtful Santa
His fingers ached when he left keyboard at last.
The message he has sent, albeit he does not
really believe- the man ever exists.
The frosted windows cannot prevent a lost
bird's forlorn hoots...
he opens the secret album.
The canopy of sadness is standing guard
at his winter holidays' lengthy noons.
On the other side a thoughtful old man ponders
on the mail.
What is to give a boy who doesn't
really believe, still sends a request
of peace, of a handful of dreams, of happiness?
What will Santa bring? His mom who has left the home?
His father's heart which has shared love with others?
A 'B+' on the report card which has been
forever downward since that eventful summer
from past, two years back?
Santa tries to pick one
and time crosses the threshold of seasons
in the boy's garden, pages from his album,
family photos fly to and fro....
