I know everyone out there has gotten one in their lifetime.  You know, that awefully tacky sweater that you can't believe anyone in their right mind would make, let alone pay money for and then expect you to wear.

My sister got one once when she was 13 that was bought at a golf course and had smiling golf balls and golf tees on it.  i wish we had a picture of it.

Mine was orange mohair in the 70s with a huge funnel neck that was pre-stretched out. It looked like there was probably a cervical collar in there. Oh, and it was too short at the waist, too. Thank you, Aunt Mary.

I had a great one.........it was a black sweatshirt with a big giant Santa head on it with frilly stuff that stuck out. I tried to give it away for free and NO ONE would take it. I can't take a picture of it though. I threw it away.

I don't think anyone has ever given me a sweater, either good or bad. Nobody but my husband ever gives me clothing as a gift, and he checks first to find out what I want (in exact detail and size).

the mother in law from Hell sent me my worst Christmas gift EVER - she had sent this big huge box with gifts for her son's family (my husband and my children) and as he went through the box and everyone opened absolutely lovely and thoughtful gifts from him until the box was almost empty and we all realized there was nothing for me YET - down in the corner of the box was a badly wrapped "something" and it was for ME.... I opened it and it was a plastic gadget you find in the 33cent bin of the junk store - LITERALLY 33 cents - it was a plastic holder (shaped and colored like a cold penguin) and it was a baking soda holder for the fridge - my gift from the mother in law from Hell who knew how to be passive agressive like a champ!!

Maybe we should have an "Ugly Holiday Sweater" Party. ;)

You know, I don't actually own one. I live in a suburb of women who collect sweaters for every holiday because they think they're kids like it (I've never seen so many kids roll their eyes at the same time--it's disturbing) and being the rebel that I am, I refuse to wear anything that lights up or jingles or has big gold lame bows or fur or.... ;)

That sweater is pretty bad! LOL Mine wasn't a sweater it was a plaid pantsuit that my husband bought me the first year we were married.....can you say "UGLY"?!! I wore it one time and then it disappeared.

jules, my mom is one of those. she tends to go for the more "tasteful" of the chirstmas sweaters, if there is such a thing, and gets a new one every year.

i personally don't have any "holiday" ugly sweaters, but i've got a couple that are so pitiful they are almost cool.

My mom is much the same, but at lest she doesn't do the jingles and lights and stuff. Some of those sweaters have a lot going on.

Blech. That's nasty. Does it really say HO HO HO around the waist?! Damn. Don't think I'd even let the cats sleep on it. I've received a few 'shit' gifts in my time too... fortunately, very few.

thanks jules. i'm more about the ugly pants than anything, that's for sure. i need to post a pic of me in my christmas plaid corduroy pants, if i can ever get them back from my roommate Mahi who borrowed them on halloween.
Oh, too bad I just cleaned out my closets! I sent about 8 bags to Goodwill, and I know there were a few dastardly demons in there!

My last ex used to buy me tee shirts with kittens or butterflies on them. I am not a kittens or butterflies tee shirt type of gal.

One of the worst presents ever came from my ex husband when we were still married (actually several of them). This one I remember well, though, because he "couldn't find anything" for me until FINALLY he went out shopping on Christmas eve and came back with "the perfect thing." In this case, the "perfect thing" was the worlds ugliest bathrobe, a robe that, by itself, should count as a prophylactic. It was simulated sheepskin in sea green and fell from the throat (at an ugly collar) to the ground.

I was thrilled to regift it to his mother, who coveted it (She'd gone shopping with him). Blecch!

Now, outing myself, I do love a tasteful holiday sweater. And I do have one, that I wear just for Christmas. HOWEVER! it is not hideous Green with bulbs on it screaming sexuality!
I have acquired some delightful jewelry from my beloved son who was allowed to shop without supervision :)
I will seek to see what I can find. One never is quite able to part with them.
