Well, my week-long migraine was feeling better last night so I made a trip to CVS. I think I just needed some fresh air more than anything! lol
Of course, as usual, CVS was out of one of the items I wanted so it kind of messed up my plan. I had PLANNED to purchase the Bayer Contour Blood Glucose monitor first. It would have been free after the manufacturer coupon and I would have had $5 ECB (extra Care Bucks) to put on my first order. I debated on whether to still do all this, but I think it was still worth it.
Transaction #1
2 Banana Boat Sunscreens - $10.49 each, less manuf. coupons for $2 and $1, so with tax spent $19.35. BUT, I got $7 in ECB's to add to my next order, so it really came down to $5.50 each. Would have been FAR better with that ECB from the Bayer deal. *sigh*
Transaction #2
1 Venus Embrace Razor - $9.99 less $2 manuf. coupon, received $4 ECB
1 CVS FAcial sunscreen stick - $3.99
used the $7 ECB from Transaction #1
Total OOP (out of pocket) - $5.44
Transaction #3
2 Dawn Dish soap - sale for $1 each, less manuf. coupon for $0.50. Received $1 ECB, so spent $0.50 each
2 Colgate kids - BOGO for $2.99
used $4 ECB from Transaction #2
Total OOP - $0.56
And I have $1 in ECB's to use on my next visit.
Certainly could have been better, but not bad....

no not bad at all :)
man you make me wish I had a cvsw
i dont think you did bad at all
i wish we had a cvs by us
Wow, sounds like a great shopping trip! Sounds like you got some great bargains! Sometimes I just hate having to have purchases rung up separately, for the rebates, but it is, indeed, worth it! We don't have any CVS stores in, or around, my city.....darn!!!
I stopped using CVS because they would not ring things up seperately so I could use rebates.
I don't see how they could refuse... After all, what difference is it to them. You could always take the items to your car and then go back for the next trip. I'm considerate though and won't hold up a line. if there's a line I'll do one transaction and then go back to the end of the line. I try to go when I know it won't be busy though.
It sounds like a pretty good trip to me. My husband went to CVS yesterday. He got a Fusion razor (free after coupon and ecb), some candy, and the febreeze deal. I didn't have any febreze coupons, but $2.50 per bottle isn't a bad price and we go through so much of it with three indoor dogs and a cat. We did have a coupon for the M&M's, so they were two bags for $5 (I can get them for just over $2 elsewhere, but with the $5 ecb on $15 they were still cheaper at CVS)
Exactly. I thought about doing the candy deal, but figured I'd just eat too much of it myself! lol but had they had the Bayer Contour in stock, I would have had a nice item to donate and an extra $5 off.
We use candy as a reward for Elliott when he does his chores without having to be asked. He gets like 2-5 M&M's at a time, depending on which kind they are.
We also use candy to help him with his math skills.
We use Chuck E Cheese tokens for that! That works better and with coupons, they are not too expensive!
We don't have Chuck E Cheese, or really anything like it here. We have one restaurant that has a game room inside, but we always spend $40-50 on just food there, so it's not somewhere we go very often at all!
Good deals. I was able to get the Contour--my manager is used to us all getting them so she keeps extras usually. sorry you didn't get one. I'd love if you could edit this to include it in CVS Extra Bucks Make Cents group--it will really help others see how it is done.
hmmm...I thought I clicked that group! Will do it now.
Thanks, Renita, I featured it.
You did great Renita.
Wow, great shopping trip! I wish I had a CVS!
Nice
nice. you did pretty good there
You did very well there.
I always wanted to know how to do this. If anyone is willing to teach or has a place I can go to learn plase email me that info.
Kevin, started a group for this: http://cvsdeals.gather.com/. I'll send you an invite. There is a beginner's tutorial on the home page--scroll down about halfway and find the posts listed as CVS 101 and they will get you started.
Hi Kevin,
I see C.L. R. already pointed you to her group. For CVS in particular, her posts are the most thorough. There's also a website called iheartcvs.com and one for Walgreens called iheartwalgreens.com. I also have just published a book about how I save at least 50% at the grocery store, that is basically a "how-to" manual. You can find that info on my featured posts.
Sounds like you did pretty good. I have a CVS card but hardly go there, what exactly are they used for?? Can I use them for a purchase?
The cards give you their "clip-free" savings price but it also gives you periodic coupons for various things based on your purchases. Sometimes it is $4 off $20, etc. And you have to use your card to get their Extra Care Buck deals - store coupons to use on your next purchase (but you have to watch exp dates)
Great shopping trip
Awesome buys
You did good.
great deals
hi! i'd like to learn how to do this too! may i get in on this?
thanks so much!
C.L. R. started a group for CVS http://cvsdeals.gather.com/. She gives the best info specifically for CVS. There is also a website called iheartcvs.com that helps. And I have a book I wrote on saving at the grocery store in general. That's in a featured post on my page.
I think you did great.
WTG. Will check out the other groups, too, to get me going.
