Just getting started?  Don't have any extra bucks yet?  Try this for the least out of pocket cash spent:


Transaction #1

Bayer Quick Release Crystals  $2.00 get $2.00 extra bucks

    There is a tear pad of $1 coupons attached to the display. Tear one off when you pick up the Aspirin and use it when you check out.

Out of pocket (oop) $1 plus tax. You will receive a $2 Extra Buck at the bottom of your receipt.


Transacton #2

Edge Shave Gel  $2.89 get $2.89 extra bucks back

  Use the $2 extra buck from Transaction #1 and $.89 cash out of pocket plus tax.


You have put out $1.89 so far (plus tax) and you have $4.89 in products and a $2.89 extra buck for future extra buck deals--or you may choose to spend it on something you need or that is on sale.

Do you need toothpaste?

Crest Prohealth $2.88 get $2.00 extra bucks back

i wish we had a CVS near us! i get so jealous reading about all the great deals that you guys find there. unfortunately, the closest one to me is over 2 hours away.

There are also manufacturers coupons out for the Crest ProHealth. I was able to use 2 $1 coupons (limit is two) and actually made .12 cents on each tube of toothpaste!

Amy, I am sorry you don't have any CVS's around. Maybe they will move in soon. I have heard about a lot of new ones and like in CA and some other state they bought out Longs Drugs. So they seem to be growing.

Gul, I never did except for prescriptions until I learned of the Extra Bucks and using one earned another transaction that would earn me another and so on and so on.

Hi, Jim! They put out a weekly ad. It comes in the Sunday paper, is in the store and is also online at CVS.com. I headed to my NOT usual CVS to practice with this weeks sales. Not as easy as it looked, they were out of the cereal which negated the milk deal since I already had that in my basket and needed it anyhow I took it anyhow. Grand daughter was THRILLED with the TRESemme deal tho and I found out about the 2 offers per household limit so didn't get what I expected but did learn from the experience. Glad I went where they didn't know me tho LOL

Yes, Ape, each extra buck deal does have its own limit. Some are one, some are two and once in a while you hit a limit of 5.

If they are out- ask for a raincheck! And come back when they are in stock. Depending on how long the ECB is running, you can still get some. Or if you are using Manf coupons, you can still get the good deal.

Yes, Deanna. You can get a raincheck and the new ones have a place to enter what ECBs you will get back, too. So even if it is weeks later you can still get the ecbs. Here is a post I put on about rainchecks:

Yes, Donald, that is beauty of CVS. You can use a manufacturers coupon, a CVS coupon and get an extra buck all for the same item. The $1 Bayer coupon mentioned above is a manufacturer coupon.

I just got my sales paper and was studing it, do you not get extra bucks on everything? Just the few items they advertize? Most of the items do not say extra bucks. It says they only give $1 on prescriptions in my paper .

Yes, Donald, it is only on some products that extra bucks are offered. Look on the group homepage--scroll down half way and there is a list of posts from the CVS 101 tutorial. Click on "what is an extra buck?" It explains more about the 2% quarterly rebate and about prescriptions.

Donald, also, if you have prescriptions at another pharmacy and are considering moving them to CVS talk to the pharmacy department about earning gift cards for transferring prescriptions. Sometimes there are coupons necessary for this or they take competitor's prescription transfer coupons--so check other pharmacy sale ads in your area. Anyways, the bottom line is it is often possible to receive a $25 gift card for transferring a prescription. There are people who have gotten several of these.

Donald, sometimes I end up getting things I don't really need and I donate those. There are times, like the Bayer aspirin this week, where there is a coupon to be used on a free after extra buck item so you actually "make money" so to speak. On the Bayer I spent $1 (actually an extra buck dollar) but I got $2 extra buck back. So like if your store has the Bayer aspirin with the $1 coupon tearpad on the display you could first buy that using the coupon, pay $1 and get $2 then use that on your Tresemme purchase to save you even more. Then you could find someone to donate the aspirin to if you didn't want it--or share it with a friend.

I could use the prohealth crest but don't know if I can get there before the sale ends. I know I have that mentality that if I don't need it don't buy it. I have to get out of that to make the most of these sales.

Carol, definitely need to buy when on sale--this way you have a stockpile and never will pay for certain things again--like toothpaste, shampoo, razors. It is amazing. Hope you get there.
