Well, that special time of year is steadily upon us once again. I find myself realizing Thanksgiving is but a couple of weeks away and I still have yet to stop to think of Christmas gifts for this year.
While recently, visiting my son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren in the warm and cozy state of Arizona, my son let me know in no uncertain terms what he and his wife wanted for Christmas from our entire family here in Oregon. They want all of us to take whatever money we were planning on spending on him and Jessica, and choose Angel trees and use the money to buy gifts for the kids. He and his wife Jess are buying for 100 children this year and the grandkids are delighted. This truly touched my heart and I thought it might yours as well.
We think we know our grown children pretty well and then they surprise us with notions beyond what we have thought of ourselves. The generosity that was birthed in their hearts began long ago in a stable amongst animals and a particular star shining ever so brightly. Jesus, God's son, was the best gift of generosity to mankind. God loved His creation of people so much He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of mankind. Jesus, His Son, willingly sacrificed Himself on the cross so many years ago, to pay the debt for people who despised Him, rejected Him and did not even believe He was who He said He was.
You too, have the opportunity to accept or reject the greatest gift offered to you in your lifetime. It is the free gift of salvation. Acts 16:31 says, "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved." Do you believe? Why or why not? I would love to hear your thoughts on this grave issue involving your eternal destiny.
Be blessed and be a blessing to others this Christmas season!!!

Samaritan's Purse has another good giving program.
Christmas is beautiful and joyous. The Baby in the manger symbolizes much that is beautiful, and we must never forget that the Baby is God incarnate. And that Christmas, without Good Friday, is mere sentiment. Good Friday without Easter day is mere tragedy. Tken together, these three days are universe-shattering! The rebellious and hostile creature is redeemed by the perfect Creator! At great and terrible cost!
We can never outgive God. He gave us His Son to redeem us, when we were not at all interestd in Him nor in redemption, for "when we were yet sinners, Christ died for us". It's what makes Christmas so utterly awesome.
