The temperature made it to its first 100° day today here in my area of Texas. The weatherman says it's gonna be that way for the rest of the week. That's hot.
My shoes of choice are the $1.00 flip flops that I purchase at the Dollar Store and while walking down to my mailbox this afternoon I could feel heat the coming through their rubber soles. I wasn't walking on concrete either.
If the ground through the grass is already hot enough to be felt through the soles of my rubber flip flops then my poor flowers will need all my attention trying to prolong their pretty blooms for a few more days.
I'm so glad that my air conditioner works and my son pays my water bill (LOL).

Yikes that's pretty hot. I hope you were able to stay cool for most of the day inside
That is hot...It has been about the same here in Sat..It got up to 107 today and this weekend it was almost 120...This is crazy weather....Stay cool...
thanks for sharing.
Lee, it seems to be all over the south. Here in Miami, we've broken temperature records every day for a week or so. It's bad enough that there are advisories being broadcast for everyone to remain indoors in air cnditioning unless going out is urgent, and telling people wh work outdoors to drink lots of water and go inside at least once an hour to cool down. It's brutal! Then we get severe storms in the late afternoon that bring the temperature down a degree or two and the humidity up to choking. Te mosquitoes love it!
Is it really humid there too? Here on the east coast, the humidity drives the heat index up and makes it feel 10-20 degrees hotter than it is. Stay cool.
you are fortunate to have good enough feet to wear flip-flops.
There are warnings out all over about this heat wave, stay hydrated and inside where it is cool, wear light clothes and eat lightly is part of the warnings I have heard. It is like being stuck inside when the snow and ice comes......I wanted to get out somewhere today but it is sooo hot, if my car breaks down in this.....
Yes, it's been very hot. We hit a record high of 99 today, although my thermoter said 102.
It's very hot here in southern MN too. Supposed to be in the 80s or 90s all week, and humid. I just have a window AC, and I can't use it and my TV at the same time. So with my daughter home all day today, Dora won out over the air conditioner.
We're look at 101 tomorrow. Oh boy, oh joy.
Stay cool, Lee!
Rainy and damp here in New England. Feels like we may never get heat.
We been hitting the 100's since last week and there's more to come!! I don't how much more we can take without rain!
Gosh that sounds hot. Hope you stay cool there!
Yowza! Now that's hot. I think the hottest I remember here in Pittsburgh, PA was 99 degrees. I remembered taking a human thermometer outside and "taking the world's temperature" ... I had fun announcing that the world had a fever. Freaking hot! We got a/c in the house after that. I just couldn't get a single thing done. I had to hide my ferrets in the basement, where it was still awfully hot but at least they wouldn't die. I had a room air conditioner in the bedroom. The entire family hid in there! Dog, cat, hubby, children ... I had a sick ferret in there, too, since it couldn't handle the heat at all. Once we got the whole house a/c it felt like I'd gotten my house back.
It's rather amusing today, though. The a/c is messed up here at work and they are freezing us! Can't they just TURN IT OFF?!? Sheesh. We have to open windows to warm up!
I'd like it a little warmer here (it's 65 right now and has been for several days now), but that seems a bit much! Maybe we could split the difference? LOL
It is hot here too! Stay cool!
That's some hot stuff, alright. A day or two of high heat temps can be difficult. I cannot imagine temps in the 100's for more than that. Weeks of high temps has to be brutal. Throw in humidity and we are cookin'.
It's running around a 105 here lately, but that is normal for this time of year.
I read that Arizona has had the coolest June this year since 1913 though...
So did you and the gals get together, put on Ray Stevens' The Streak and then,
OMG!!
I closed my modest eyes.
Wow that is hot! Florida gets hot, but it's the humidity that makes it worse. We try to just live inside in the summers!
It'll just keep getting hotter, won't it? Yikes!
That is way to high a temperature for me. I like my mild weather even though would like to see a little more sun earlier in the day.
Yeah, and my mom's washing clothes!!! AND THE DRIER IS IN MY PART OF THE HOUSE!!! my room is humid and sorta hot right now. I'm not opening the window though, nuh uh... its 100 out there!! its tollerable though, got 3 fans and a Fedders window unit on in my room, and its all blowing TOWARDS the washer/dryer part of the room (it just adds on to my room, no door, just a walk in part, then my closet) And all the other 3 window units in the other half of the house is on too. The babies have to keep cool too! both babies are in just diapers, cuz they are so hot natured.
it feels around 70 with a fan on me... but in the dryer part of the room.... ick... lets not go there.... There's a fan in the opening there. :)
