I was questioned, kind of rudely if I do say so myself, as to why I post articles offering to help people earn points easier while they spend their time here on Gather.
The person who did it made a borderline snide remark about advertising myself. It kind of caught me off guard, because my intent behind those posts is to help people who don't have many other earnings options right now. Maybe the intent wasn't to be snide, but that's how it came across to me. I removed the person from my friends list, because frankly, if that's how they feel about me, I don't need them on my page.
When I saw the persons page, it was filled with downline links to other sites, and contest wins from here, and other sites. To me, that's kind of the same thing as posting what you earn- which I'm not against, but it is the same thing.
The economy is horrible all over. Some people need every little bit of help they can get- whether it's earning even an extra $5 a month here, or finding a real job, or getting help in finding ways to cut their budget.
Maybe I do spout off my numbers quite a bit- but it isn't because I want to rub people's faces in it. Instead, it's because I'm darn proud of what I'm able to accomplish here, and that I've found a site that I enjoy, and that allows me to earn some money while being a stay at home mom.
After getting asked over and over again just how I am able to earn what I am here, I decided to post an article about it. I kept it private, and told people about it so that if they cared to see it, they could. A week or two later, another idea came to mind, so I posted another article, and once again told people about it in case they cared to see it.
Since then, it's become a sort of tips series. My goal isn't to show people how to scam the site, but how to learn to enjoy their time here on Gather, while earning points a bit more efficiently. I have heard from several people in the past that they just don't enjoy the site, which is why they don't post much.
I love Gather. Not just for the points, but for the people as well. I enjoy my time here, and the people (for the most part) that I interact with. I enjoy being able to earn some extra money for our budget, and I enjoy winning prizes from time to time.
I have heard from multiple people privately that my tips have helped them, and that their earnings have indeed gone up.
I know I'm not the highest earner here, nor am I trying to be. I know there are several others who earn more than I do. I never claimed I earned the most here.
My reason for these posts isn't to advertise, or to scam people, or to rub it in faces, or anything else negative. My reason behind them is simply to help people who need it.
If my tips help a single mom earn $10 more that she didn't have last month, then I'm glad. It's not going to send her on vacation, but $10 to someone who didn't have it before is helpful. If I'd had these options open to me 10 years ago when my husband and I got married, I'd have been ecstatic to earn $10 a month, or to increase it by $10 a month more by being shown some tips on how to do it easier.
The bottom line for me, is that I know a lot of people on my Earners "friends" list have been helped by my posts. For those who don't like them, they don't have to read them- in fact, they can't read them.
As for the person who felt I was advertising, and got snide with me- you certainly won't get access to them. Enjoy your wins on the site, and the earnings you do make! And remember- behind the icon is an actual person. ;)

Your a good kid don't let anyone offend you HUGS
thank you for posting them
I'm trying not to be all dramatic over it, but the person's remarks were just kind of bothersome. Ah well, not someone I needed on my list, apparently! ;)

This is so true!!!!!!!!!! In an effort to help out too (not to jack your thread)..........
I just signed up on youdata.com about twenty minutes ago and I've already earned $2.80. I don't think that's too shabby, just for looking at some pretty cool stuff. If anyone's interested email me and I'll send you a referral link, or if you don't want to sign up under me, you can just go straight to youdata.com and sign up on your own.
Heather, if you haven't tried this one, so far I'm really liking it, and I've heard nothing but rave reviews!
I haven't heard of Youdata, thanks :)
I always love everything I read from you! I have even sent you some stuff through private email when you were fixing up your house.
I always love tips and tricks to making a few more cents or helping save a few!
Keep up the good work.
