After Nick made me Cinnamon Roll tops (the bottoms got a little, um... crispy), we laid down and tossed in Angel. I almost fell asleep a few times, but never quite did, so I've decided it's time to stay up for the rest of the day, and probably wind up crashing in bed early tonight. But, it'll help reset my inner clock, I hope.
Typically, when my insomnia rears it's ugly head, I lose an hour or so here and there each night, adding up to longer periods, until I wind up almost completely sleepless. From there, I can usually get it to kind of reset if I go to sleep at a normal time and avoid any naps for that day.
As I've gotten older (yes, ripe old age of 30), it's gotten a LOT harder on my body to do that, though. I get horrid headaches now if I go without sleep, and sometimes wind up queasy, as well. So far, just a small headache that I'm hoping to head off here in a bit.
One of my $25 Target cards came in the mail today from Gather. That leaves me with 1 more on it's way soon. Now that it's 2009, I have no immediate plans to cash out. I would like to hold off and buy some camping gear with it, and take the kids camping this summer for a week or even two, all over the state.
If there's a good promo this summer, that should be doable. I'll probably keep my eye out on good deals this spring on big sized tents, then cash in when I find one I like.
I emailed back and forth with my cousin today. Her mom is my first cousin, the one who has cancer. They just got back not too long ago from U of M where the doctors said the treatment appears to be working. They have Kelly doing another round of Chemo for now to make sure it keeps working, but as far as I can tell, I think that means she's either in remission, or well on her way to being in remission.
That's just fantastic news, because the type of cancer she has, LeioMyoSarcoma, has no known cures, and chemo only buys time if it puts you in remission. From what I've read up on, and what I've heard from family, if it goes into remission, it still isn't a ticket to a long life, just longer than it would be otherwise.
Kelly has 3 children and 2 grandchildren, and is just a really nice person. I'm very relieved to hear that the treatment is going good. At first, the doctors didn't think it would help much, and Kelly was so sick she was in the hospital for a week.
I'm hoping she continues to get better, and that her prognosis continues to improve as well.
And, well, that's been my day in a nutshell.
