Woman Blames Sheriff for Ruining Home

What a charming man he must be! Oh this just made me sick to my stomach..people abusing authority makes me sick. The sheriff in the town I grew up in was so nice he would have pulled it himself for free

if they got a trailer to push it then why couldn't they have moved it

they could have done more to HELP - if they had her home would not have been destroyed

I agree with the sheriff on this one It is not his job to ove her trailer it is not the county or the cities job to pay to move the trailer off the road for her. It s he responsibility and if it was not done in a timely fashion the sheriff had every right within the law to do what he did. By the way 12 people living in a trailer is aganist the law at least where I live it is.

Lisa - Just how was he abusing his authority? He is the sheriff that is his job. He gave her over 9 hours to find a way to remove it what was he supposed to do let her leave it their blocking the road? Just because you don't like the way he went about it does not mean he did not have the authority to do so.

I guess we do things differently here.

We had a situation with a neighbor once. They were moving the trailer in and it got stuck in the ditch..Of course the sheriff came out because it was a safety situation being at the bottom of the hill..The whole neighborhood joined in, including the sheriff and several officers and they pushed the trailer and truck off the road themselves....I guess I'm used to a people who care about others and no there are no limitations to people living somewhere where I live unless its a rental and the landlord has a rule.

9 hours isnt much time to move something like this as I happen to live in one. there are permits, utilities that must be dealt with and that just scratches the surface. This could have been worked out had not all concerned been so anal

Carol she was supposed to have all the permits etc ahead of time. The road was blocked for over 9 hours that people needed to drive on. I am sure that if he had done nothing then people would be whining that he should have done something.

Every state and city has zoning laws and fire codes. There are always limitations they just very from state to state and sometimes city to city.

I hear what you are saying Lisa. I would think that most would try to help. We don't exactly know what the sheriff did or did not do. He may have tried to help and then it got to the point where for the safety of others he had to give a time limit or he may have just been a jerk. I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt though since I would not want to be put into that position myself. He has a job that somebody is always going to be unhappy no matter what he did.

I think the community itself could have done more to help....someone should have been able to find another trailer or something.

good for her to have got a new home, however, if it was in this poor of condition to were it just fell apart, how long before we red of some tragity involing the 11 people who lived there when it just fell apart while they were sleeping

I have to agree with Chris E. on this one. It was the woman's responsibility to make sure all the permits were in place. I am sorry it happened, but even where i live it costs more than $200.00 to move a mobile home. Glad she was able to get another home.
