who was the email from I heard about the copy and paste but i dont think it means graphics how can you really keep typing those over i cringe from the thought of doing that
I wrote an article in MSWord and went to copy and paste it to post on gather, tried 4 times, and gather would not post it. I thought it was just a error, but now I wonder. I ended up retyping the article in order to post it. Huh, strange.
I am pretty sure, that if the graphic is clicable back to it's site. Then it is okay. I agree with TW. Post this article in Kevin's group. "The Help Center" add help me to the tag. I think that is the tag that is called for.. lol
Or better yet, go to his group, and in his today featured article. You can ask him your question. He may answer you faster through here..

i was always under the impression that you could copy/paste as long as you sited where you obtained your information. if you don't site, then technically it's plagiarism. however, graphics should be fine since the site usually gives you the html code to paste on your site. and then the actual graphic will link back to the site where that graphic was found.
I know that you it is somewhat against the rules to copy and paste the same thing over and over again as a comment. Maybe that's what they're talking about. If you are pasting the same graphic in most of your comments, that might be a violation.
I cant help you ,as I get confused myself sometimes,and see alot of copying and pasting of comments and stuff,but graphics should not be one of those issues.
It really depends upon what the person was referring to. In posts, you should not share/publish the work of others without their permission...even when you give the author credit.
If it's comments they're referring to, then copy & paste can also be against site policy...depending.
I was told you could not so I dont know either. I think they were talking about pasting and copying the same thing over and over in commenting like saying one phrase over and over and over.
That's insane.. and confusing... at the same time. If we are copying and pasting information and give reference to where we find it, there is nothing wrong with that.. it's sharing general information giving credit to the place in which it came from.
I know that it's against the TOS to copy and paste the same comment onto a bunch of different articles. Like the pay it forward stuff. You're supposed to include something original in each comment. That's really about all I know, though.
This copy/paste topic is all over the place. More for comments than posting and citing someone elses work. How do they know if a short comment was pasted or typed? What else can you say about 12 pictures of flowers, or 8 shots of a cat on the floor? Graphics can be clever, but in web lingo, they are boring cutesy stuff. I don't like them. If you've ever designed a web page, that stuff runs people away. But let's get back to trying to figure out what's right/wrong - good/bad here at Gather.
IF you are referring to making a comment on peoples posts yes it is ok to use graphics what is wrong is if you use the words Thanks for sharing in all of your comments plus the graphic but if your words are different on each & every comment then it is ok to use the same graphic.
i didn't know about the copy and paste thing either. I thought everybody did that when they got recipes or stories from other places. good to know what the rules are though.
these up set me there is someone on gather that never ever says anything other than their copy and paste comment and gather actually rewards this person *pisses me off!*
