What you'll need:
- Assortment small wrapped candies, toys, party blowers, etc.,
- 4 sheets colored tissue paper (16 x 27-inch)
- 8 5-inch cardboard tubes (either cut a paper towel tube in half, or use an empty toilet tissue tube)
- Colored curling ribbon
- Scissors

What to do:
- Cut the tissue paper in half, lengthwise.
- Cut 8 strands of each color of ribbon, 15-inch long.
- Fill the tubes with candies, toys, party squawkers, etc.,
- Lay one sheet of tissue paper flat on a surface.
- Place the tube at one edge and roll the paper tightly around the tube.
- Tie the ribbon tightly at both ends of the tube.

Makes 8 party poppers.

These poppers are a variation of British party crackers. Crackers are decorative party favors widely used in Great Britain to celebrate a variety of special occasions and festive events. They consist of a beautifully wrapped and decorated cardboard cylinder usually containing a paper crown (tissue party hat), a motto (British joke or riddle), a snap (popping device), and a small gift or novelty item. Party guests pull the ends of the cracker and surprises fall out.
I included party squawkers, assorted candies and a fortune in each popper. I wasn't able to make these poppers snap, but the squawkers make plenty of noise!

You can make your own party poppers, using colored tissue paper to correspond with the occasion or holiday. Orange and black would be perfect for Halloween, red for Valentine's Day and pastels for Easter. For graduation parties or sports banquets, use school colors.
Have fun!
