Each Christmas break, my kids always string popcorn, cranberries, and cereal to feed the birds. Then we hang them on the trees outside. It's a lot of fun, and they make the trees look so pretty.
The birds usually like the cereal and popcorn much more than the cranberries- at the end of the season, that's what we still have hanging on the tree, the bright red decorations!

First you have to thread the needle. That's not always an easy task! Then you string the bird treats on the thread.

My youngest son put a lot of thought into his pattern... all the kids did! His friend got to help by making one, too.

My daughter was really focused on pattern, too. This was the first time my oldest son, who is a German exchange student, had ever done this! It was something new for him to try.

The best part is hanging them on the tree and waiting for the birds to eat them... yum! Also, they brighten up the empty winter trees.
