Woodworking is like any other talent, it has degrees of talent used and required for projects. If you enjoy woodworking that is half the battle in itself. My husband has a wonderful talent for it but he does not have much time to devote to his talent. Around Christmas time though he makes time to do some smaller woodworking projects.
I have posted a few of his recent projects. I told him that I had finished posting them and the first thing he said was "Now Victoria will know what I made the kids". I explained to him that Victoria does not visit my posts too often. LOL
I posted the following posts on his woodworking projects:
Handmade Wooden Gifts For Gift Giving - Childrens Mini Golf Set

Handmade Wooden Gifts For Gift Giving - Childrens Tool Box Complete With Tools

Handmade Wooden Gifts For Gift Giving - Children Piggy Banks

Handmade Wooden Gifts For Gift Giving - Functional Bird Houses

Last year he made each family a washer game.

I know that with the economy in the sad state that it is in, many of you are looking for ways to supplement your income or make frugal gifts. I thought I would post a link to a site that offers a few FREE woodworking patterns for small woodworking projects. They only offer one FREE pattern a month but it takes two days for you to receive the entire pattern. One half the pattern is made available on the first of the month and the second half is made available on the second of the month.
To the best of my knowledge, there is no archive of the patterns and they only offer one year at a time so the January 2008 pattern will be taken down on the first of Jan and you will no longer have access to it. Here is the link to the Free Patterns. Hope you enjoy them. They also have patterns that you can purchase. I suggest that if you are into woodworking you sign up for both the email newsletter and the catalog.
They also offer a pattern club. In this club they charge $12.95 a shipment plus shipping and handling. You get patterns (I think) four times a year.
You will find more great gift ideas in my groups Homemade Gifts, Homemade Mixes and Back to Basics.
