Last week, I purchased a new stocking for myself- it was just from Dollar Tree, and matches the one I had from 2 years ago, and the one Nick has, but I couldn't find mine this year. I couldn't find my red glitter glue, so my name is in gold and Nick's is in red, but oh well.
Anyway, I hung those two up today, and Gillian's hospital stocking. That's actually gotten pretty grubby from her handling it, but her name is written on in marker, so I'm hesitant to wash it. I ave no idea if it was permanent marker, or not. I don't want black streaks all over it, so I'm just leaving it for now.
But all the stockings are hung. In all, we have 13. I would love to get more. Yesterday I did find another one at Goodwill- it's a small one that resembles a snowman. I found a Tigger & a Pooh one as well, but opted not to buy them. They were kind of ratty looking to begin with, but also more expensive than I wanted to pay right now.
I decided this year that this is what I want to do for a Christmas collection- stockings. They're fun, and can be hung all over the house, and they're inexpensive. I saw someone post a quilted advent calendar yesterday with stockings used for the pocket. I want to do something like this myself, I think, but instead of quilting it, I'll just pick up 25 mini stockings to use, and maybe hang them like garland.
Anyway, here are the pictures of all 13 hanging up.

When we dated, my husband and I bought stockings for each other for Christmas. I can't remember if we had matching stockings for our first Christmas married, but I know the next year we did, and Elliott was 3 weeks old and he had his blue "Baby's 1st" type stocking. Last year he had a stocking with a giant singing Elmo head. He's kinda creepy. :)
We bought him a stocking that matches ours for this year, and his Elmo one is on his bedroom door.
I do know that we had a matching snowman/woman set of stocking holders (is that what they're called? LOL!) that sit on the mantle. Once Elliott was born we bought a set at Target for a family of three. A buck, doe and fawn...very pretty!
The dogs have their stockings too--they have little pawprints on them. They are on the other side of the living room though, since they are "cute" and my husband is very particular about everything matching.
I just think they are one of the best parts of the Christmas morning excitement. The stocking was always the first stop on Christmas morning, and I still love finding those personal little surprises.
