This was in our local town paper and it sounds like a great idea for those of us who are non-crafty! It sounds very easy and would be great for even the little ones to help with.
Take a milk carton, obviously the cardboard ones or whatever they are made from.
Get some graham crackers.
Have the kids glue the graham crackers to the milk carton.
Make up a batch of some type of frosting since it will be non-edible.
Have them decorate it with cookies, candies, glitter, ribbon, whatever you like
They turn out like the kid's drawings, kind of messy, colorful, whimsical, inexplicable, funny and beloved because they were made by your children or grandchildren.
She states that her kids were so proud and enjoyed making them tremendously, even though you can't eat them. She saved them year to year and then started to construct gingerbread house villages with them. She then commented that she was ashamed to say they lasted over 20 years because they were so inedible that even the mice weren't interested in them.
