Had Mary chosen not to hear
The words of angels hovering near
And fled instead into the night
With precious cargo taking flight
From what or where would goodness come?
And love and joy for everyone?
From whence would gladness ring on high,
Or angels sing a lullaby?
Had Mary chosen not to heed
The Word of God, we'd not be freed
From sin and Satan where we dwell.
We'd surely feel the fires from hell.
Yet through the heart of this young girl
The shell produced the rarest pearl
Of wisdom, truth, and honesty-
The Christ Child was our king to be.
So on that most mysterious night
She did not bend to pain or fright
Accepted Heaven's message clear
Prepared a Savior to appear
To man and beast upon the earth
This Christ Child scorned upon his birth
By those refusing to believe
That God would send such small reprieve.
Did they expect that idols gold
Would save our souls, our lives behold
Within their glistening façade?
No, Jesus taught us to pray hard
And use the words the Father said
He said they'd rise up from the dead
And live eternal life that's free
'Twas Jesus' gift to you and me.
Yet what if Mary lived today?
Would she have stayed or run away?
Would she had sought to rid the seed
That bore the Son to fill the need
Of cleansing sin and healing pain?
Who might have kept her from the rain?
Who might have fed her mouth and soul,
And given her a hand to hold?
We have the Blessed Virgin's faith
To guide our own from this dark place
Where sin prevails today, you see,
His Word's forgotten presently.
We know the way, it's in our heart
We've never really come apart
From Jesus' true forgiving ways
His seeking brightness for our days.
Remember then on Christmas Eve
She who helped us to believe
In Saviors, joy, and peace on earth
The mother to a son gave birth
And men rejoiced with thanks and praise
The baby lying in the hay
The man whom for our sins took death
Deserves our prayers with every breath.

So many questions....
At least there are still many among us to keep the balance by positive and loving energy in the light.
Thank you and blessing across the sea
I hate how little docoration involve Christ now. Even for non Christians ... I don't see how Christmas can have that same joy and mysique without the tune and picture in their minds of That Little Town of Bethlehem ... and God diquised as a baby. Even as a child lying in bed on Christmas eve, it was HIM lying out threre somewhere mixed with the toys under the tree that gave such unreal excitement to the season.
Just a wonderful poem. Thank you.
