My husband is multi-talented. He is such a great woodworker. Each year around Christmas time, every free minute he has, you will find him in his workshop. He does not usually allow me in there at that time of year. This past Christmas he made the neatest game for our families. He made 14 of them for family members. Everyone just loves them. Now when the family gets together, they bring their games. I thought you may be interested in seeing how he made them.
This is very frugal to make. It just proves that you do not need a lot of money to have nice gifts.
It is made of wood with woven nylon rope added for handles. It has a Lock of sorts on each side to keep the two boxes attached.

It opens up to form two boxes

Each box has a Plastic pipe attached to the center with a wooden piece in the bottom of each. He painted the wooden part in the center Red so it can be easily seen.

Each player has two washers. One set of washers are painted and the other set is plan.
Here is a better shot of the washers and directions. I printed the directions off on card stock paper and he was going to laminate them but never did get it done.

Here are the directions. I hope you can read them.

All of the family loved this game from my Father who is in his 70's to the younger kids. It is fun for all ages because it is so adaptable. For the little kids you simply put the boxes closer together. For the older ones and the adults, you put them 20 feet apart.
You can also purchase plastic paint and paint the pipe but he did not have time. He works long hours and his free time is not much at all. I think this game looks great even if the pipe is not painted.
Frequently, hardwood stores will give away pallets. You could use the free pallets to make these games and have little cost involved. They are wonderful Christmas or Birthday gifts. Homemade is always best in my opinion.
