Hey Gather, It's Turkey Time! 

We are delighted to welcome the Butterball® Turkey Talk-Line® Experts to Gather for a live chat on Wednesday, November 26th. The Turkey Talk-Line Experts will be with us from 1 to 2 PM ET to answer your last-minute questions and to share the latest and greatest tips for preparing the perfect Thanksgiving bird.  READ THE TRANSCRIPT OF THE LIVE CHAT HERE AND FIND OUT HOW TO COOK A PERFECT BIRD.

 

Leading up to the live chat, we are hosting the "Think Outside the Turkey" side-dish recipe drawing. Butterball will give away $15 Turkey Gifts Checks to 15 Gather members who post their favorite holiday side-dish recipes. To enter the drawing, post your "Think Outside the Turkey" side-dish recipe to the Food Essential group between November 19th and November 25th. Winners will be randomly selected and announced during the live Turkey Talk-Line chat on November 26th. The winning recipes will be featured on Gather and in an upcoming holiday newsletter.

How to Enter

It's easy to participate in the "Think Outside the Turkey" recipe drawing. First, join the Gather Food Essential group.  Join now!

 

Share your holiday side-dish recipe by following these quick steps:

  • Click "Share" on the left of your My Gather page
  • Select "Share a Post"
  • Write your recipe (photos appreciated, but optional)
  • In the "Tags" field, please insert the words "thanksgiving side dish" separated from any other tags by a comma 
  • Under "Who can view my post," you must select "Everyone" and the "Gather Food Essential" group
  • Click "Submit"

Note: The open submission period for this drawing ends on November 25th, 2008 at 11:59 PM ET. Winners will be announced on November 26th in the Food Essential group during the Turkey Talk live chat.

 

 

 

 

Turkey Talk-Line Live Chat Details

Mary Clingman, director of the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line, will lead the live chat along with well-know mommy blogger Susan Wagner, author of "Friday Playdate,"  Gather member, and first-year Butterball Talk Line blogger!

 

Join the Turkey Talk-Line Experts live on Wednesday, November 26th at 1pm ET to gobble up tips for preparing the perfect Thanksgiving feast for friends and family.  As an added bonus, we will give away 10 additional $15 Butterball Turkey Checks during the live chat to members who post a comment or question for the experts.

ok I am hungry heres a hint some basic stuffing you can use a mx add extra oinions celery and some oysters. This will go faster then anything else on the table

Hi everybody! I don't know about you, but I'm getting some great ideas about what to take to my family's Thanksgiving this year. I need to get out of the rut of cooking the same side dishes that I have in the past. Thanks!

And don't forget to get your turkey questions ready for the Butterball experts live chat on Wednesday the 26th! I'm still trying to figure out how to cook a moist turkey and make a stellar gravy.

Oyster dressing!!!! Buy one bag of regular dressing, follow the directions only add one cup of chicken broth, to this add chopped celery(1/2 cup) 1/2 cup onions, 1/2 mushrooms, a pinch of salt, pepper, cyenne (optional), thyme. Mix well with two eggs (beat well) combine all ingredients with one cup of cooked oysters. You can chop them up. Cook according to package. (Spray pan first before you put in dressing.) You can add some old bay but not too much. Awesome.
OK, I give up! I have entered the contest, but now cannot find all the entries. Would you please help me?

I submitted a recipe for vegetable & stuffing bake. Its delicious. I have seen some recipes around gather and cant wait to hear who the winners are. This is a wonderful contest with not only the winners getting a reward but we are all winners as well because we get to learn about others favorite side dish recipes and try them ourselves on our test subjects : our thanksgiving guests:)
