Every year my young daughter and I make "Pilgrim Hats" for a Thanksgiving dessert. It's a really simple and fun activity - and, they turn out great!
What you need is a bag of marshmallows, a bag of chocolate chips, a package of the shortbread cookies that are covered in chocolate on one side, and a tube of yellow decorating gel/frosting.
* Melt the chocolate over low/medium heat and then dip the marshmallows in the chocolate so they are completely covered.
* Immediately place the chocolate covered marshmallow on top of one of the cookies (the chocolate side of the cookie should be facing up so the warm chocolate on the marshmallow will bond with it) and repeat until you run out of marshmallows or cookies.
* Put these in the 'fridge until the chocolate becomes hard (an hour or so)
* Use the tube of yellow decorating gel/frosting to draw a small square (buckle) at the base of each marshmallow.
There you will have a flock of adorable Pilgrim Hats!
