When I was young, my mother always used place cards for holiday dinners. Her place cards were small mirrors with a gritty, re-writable strip on which we wrote the names. They added a colorful touch to the holiday table and were a nice tradition.
When I had my own family and gave holiday dinners, my children liked to make place cards. We folded 3x5 index cards in half, then applied a seasonal sticker to each card and wrote the names. It was fun and looked festive.
The Internet has a wealth of websites that feature free, seasonal clip art. Now we can expand our place card art, fonts and designs. If you are artistic, you can draw your own, but for those of us who are not, clip art is the way to go.
Here's an example of some Thanksgiving place cards. Copy, paste, fold and cut and you're finished! Browse seasonal clip art and make your own cards with the kids. Use your imagination and have fun!
