While searching on youtube I was surprised to see how many bands have covered this Metallica classic.
I like Metallica's version, but I'm not a big fan of long, drawn out guitar solos, which this band is known for.
Original:
Apoptygma Berzerk:
This isn't the first Metallica song this Norwegian band has covered. Stephan Groth has commented that Metallica aren't a very good band, but they have some nice melodies.
Apop has also covered "Nothing Else Matters".
Apocalyptica:
I'm not too familiar with this band, but they have a lot of fans in Europe.
Sonata Arctica:
I've never heard of this artist. This is a pretty close cover.
Which version do you prefer?

I like these versions in this order:
1. Apoptygma Berzerk
2. Metallica
3. Apocalyptica--this is a nice cover. When I did a youtube search, however, and watched a vid of them doing "Enter Sandman", it just made me laugh. Three long haired grungy looking guys sawing away at cellos is a pretty entertaining sight. And not in a good way.
4. Sonata Arctica--even though this is a decent cover, I'm putting it last because the band didn't add anything original to it.
Of Course I like Metalica but I have to say of the four I like
Apocalyptica
Metallica
Apotygma Bererk
Sonata Artica
I liked all of them though.. I really like these articles you are doing...nice to get introduced to new artists!! Great job!
O.K. this was too funny. I'm listening to the original and my 13 year old son walks by and says "what are you listening to?" He looks at the screen and says "I was just listening to that." He's giving me weird looks and I asked "Can't I listen to Metallica?" He just looks at me like mom is not allowed to like the same music as he does. Who introduced him to all this music???? (It sure wasn't my husband, he only listens to Christian or Country.)
I like:
1. Metallica
2. Apocalyptica
3. Apotygma Berek
4. Sonata Artica
I like Metallica's version, period.
I like Apacolyptica...the rest are a bit too harsh for my ears I think.
I think the Apoptygma Berzerk version is not bad. The Apocalyptica is extremely different.
