Summary: The Social Media Advertising Consortium (SMAC) is currently hiring for an Executive Director to lead the organization on a day-to-day basis in partnership with the Board of Directors, Standards Board and General Membership.
Key Responsibilities: The Executive Director will have overall responsibility of leading and promoting SMAC to the industry, press and membership. This includes managing membership initiatives, managing group initiatives, coordinating press opportunities, SMAC events and awards programs. The position reports to the SMAC Board of Directors.
The key responsibilities include:
1. New Membership - the ED will lead all efforts to promote and recruit corporate and individual membership initiatives and have prior experience in organizational membership recruiting or relevant background.
2. Create standards - the ED will coordinate and support Standards Board efforts to Establish standard vocabulary, buying units, and metrics for engagement marketing to promote industry growth.
3. Drive awareness and adoption - the ED will lead efforts to increase the awareness of SMAC and its initiatives in the US and will play a public role at events, with press and within other industry groups. The ED is the public face of the organization to the industry.
4. Strategic Growth - The ED, working with the Board of Directors, will be responsible to develop and execute a plan to grow membership, strategic initiatives, and coordinate and execute events and publications that benefit the organization.
5. Team development - The ED will be responsible to plan, hire and manage a team as the organization grows. Prior experience managing teams directly required.
6. Fiscal growth - The ED will be responsible to manage the operating budget of SMAC within the guidelines determined by the board.
Key traits:
Must LUV social media - The ED must be passionate about the social media landscape and dedicated to growing the industry. Don't fake it - it will show.
Marketing Ecosystem Experience - The ED has to have a superior knowledge and relationships throughout the current marketing ecosystem of buyers, sellers, press, research and data vendors, as well as, the overall Industry.
Leadership Experience - This is a fun job, but we'll be building out the organization as we grow. The ED must be a self starter, have the ability to partner with teams to drive outcomes and be comfortable ambiguities as the organization is built.
SPEEK N' RITE GOOD - The ED must have exceptional verbal and written communications skills with proficiency in public speaking, writing/blogging and being a nice person preferred.
Prior experience leading industry organization; sales, marketing or client teams; or just overall MOJO preferred. Some travel and event participation should be expected.
