What a special gift. Something to treasure!

I got all kinds of surprises this year; most good, but a couple not so nice. A few Gather members sent me things, which surprised me very much when all I really wanted was cookies. A couple even surprised my by sending them when I wasn't expecting anything from them. (Actually, I wasn't expecting anything from any of you. You really shouldn't have, but I appreciate immensely that you did.) Gather, itself, even surprised me with a very generous gift. Though my ESP already told me what I was getting from him, my best friend got me a cat to love and keep me company. A cousin, whom I haven't seen in years, sent me a very generous gift, as well...and my mother, whom I haven't talked to in 3 1/2 years, sent me a check...and my sister, whom I haven't talked to in over 4 years, sent me a card. An old friend I used to work with and haven't seen or talked to in 9 years sent me a card with a lottery ticket in it. I scratched it off and won a nice amount, too. The 'bad' surprises were slipping on the ice and snow and falling a couple of times...and events transpired on the part of others forced Christmas day plans to all be canceled, so I ended up spending the day alone with nothing to do...so I got drunk by myself. I'm calming down from my disappointment over Christmas Day and rethinking whether to ever celebrate the holiday again or not. Glad you got your great-great's pitcher. It's always wonderful when you get a piece of family 'history' handed down to you and it becomes your heirloom.

1 of my broinlaws makes jewelry boxes and this year, I got one. It's beautiful with a hummingbird on the top and sliding trays and red felt and a mirror. Every year he makes one for 1 of the women in the family - this year was my turn. I almost started crying when I realized what was in the box. He knew how hard things had been for us the last few months and I truly appreciate him and all the hard work he put into this box.

That was a terrific gift--a real treasure!
My gifts were wonderful, but I especially loved one that I gave to a daughter--a stained glass piece that I made for my father years ago, one that I knew she coveted because of the connection to her grandfather who passed away 7 years ago. I signed the gift tag, "from Grampa", and we both teared up when she opened it.

This is a fantastic gift with all of the memories connected to it!!! I received a lot of small gifts from my husband but I think my favorite is a cast iron door stop about a foot high in the form of a rooster (which I collect!)!!! We have a door in our home that needs a door stop so it was just perfect!!! =0)

That is so wonderful! I know what you mean about appreciating things like that more now. My Father and my Grandma (who is now in Heaven), have passed many things on to me, that I absolutely treasure. And, of course, I have so many plastic bins FULL of beautiful letters and pictures from my kiddos, telling me how beautiful I am, and what a wonderful Mom I am... I'll have to pull them out in a few years to remind them!!! lol About ready to start pulling some out for my teenagers... grr!!! haha

I love to get old glass ware.i use alot of what I have found.I use my yello ware bowl when I make bread and my daughter just has a fit.I tell her well it needs to be used.
