Three things are certain: Death, taxes, and lost data. Guess which has occurred?

Yesterday it worked. Today it is not working Windows is like that.

Back in the days of the Apple ][, it was possible to do a software override of the hardwired error messages. You could make up your own versions of Apple error messages, then load them into software programs on disk, pass them to your friends, and when they loaded the software, they unknowingly loaded the rewritten error messages as well. If an error occurred while the computer still had your error messages in memory, they got your version rather than Apple's version. (This was not a virus, as it only overrode the error messages until the computer was shut down, which erased all of the software in memory.) I had a lot of fun with that before my friends finally caught on.

I haven't seen the Blue Screen of Death since I upgraded but wow, did I have to deal with it alot before XP. "Exception Error: 1000xb0000123540x" or my fave "Kernel error: general protection fault. Kernel long-string-of-numbers blah blah...relinquish all hope...prepare for world domination..." or something like that.
