The plane was cleared to taxi down the runway, so it was a bit too late to rethink the bet. Sam hoped his parachute would open properly when he jumped, for there Was the drowning factor. He was to land in a kayak waiting just over the mountain, in the deep, deep river.
Oh, what a man might do to win a bet! If he made it, Johnny would pay him 100 thou, enough for his plan. He hoped Susan was watching, because the banner would open and say: "Would you marry me? Love, your Clown" Johnny also loved Susan...............................
(( Fifth week prompt is adventure, using any or all of the following words:Parachute, taxi, kayak, clown, mountain))

Now you folk can figure out what Johnny expects to happen, yes?
I'm still laughing at "the drowning factor." VERY important factor!
You are the clever one. You got all five in there. I hope Sam makes it and Susan is watching :-)
Sounds like Johnny took into account that "drowning factor."
I hope Sam did a thorough inspection of the parachute and that Johnny isn't piloting the kyak. Fun shortie. Very imaginative.
Very well done!!!
A very fun little story.
too bad sam doesn't land on Johnny, lol
Sounds like a fun adventure!!
Johnny is mean. I don't think Susan should marry either one. LOL
Love the story.
because sam might be a mite shy of a full load, lee? heh heh
Okay, so we now have "mean" and "crazy". I wonder what catagory Susan fits into, it seems she knows both of these guys well enough for them to be in love with her.
See what a nice story you wrote? I'm making them real and speculating on Susan. LOL Sam won the bet didn't he?
yep, Lee. Amazing what a fellow will do for LUV,lol
How sweet and very cute story...well-knitted and nicely executed!
Great story to use all the words. Your stories have always been good.
Thank you, norma (big grin)
Cute and fun story. I hope the parachute does open! I'd like to know what happens :)
What a prompt! In reality, a parachutist would not land in a kayak without smashing and sinking it. You deploy your Mark III Charlie as your feet hit water, release the chute, and climb into the kayak. But who's to argue with a cute story?
One does have license to er...prevaricate.... in stories, john, and i am ever so Good at That, lol
Hey, Penni, take all the license you need to make a good story! If my late grandfather were around, he would heartily agree!
Susan probably wasn't watching because Johnny told her that Sam had chickened out!
i hope he won the bet. Mmm, not sure I trust Johnny though. Did he pack the parachute?
Nice little story. Love the drowning factor. Hope he won.
This one is fun! I love the marriage proposal aspect.
And, the fun parachuting into a kayak concept.
If one is to do ''fiction", angela, might as well put a well nigh impossibe in,lol
I'm glad you're dancing in the rain!
thanks, laurun. After high temps for weeks, a few days of rain is awesome
LOL - Very creative, Penni !!
Good One !!
This is a Soap Opera. Well done.
Great little story! I have really been enjoying reading your responses to these prompts, Penni! That sure is some precision parachuting...
The "drowning factor" definitely got my attention. LOL. This makes me wonder how long it takes to get out of a parachute while in water. Also, at a time like this, one of those inflatable rafts would come in handy. The kind you pull a tab or something and it self inflates. It would be hard to work a bicycle pump at a time like this. I've heard of jumping hoops, but not this.
I can't even get in a kayak properly from the edge of the water, lynn, so thinking sam can do this Amazing thing is a hoot, lol
Lovin' it, Penni!
Great job!
