Iget confused between sci/fi and fantasy...does this one fly? After all, Merlin DID come out of the sky. I have a broken Toe to prove it,lol...
Dragons and wizards are more fantasy than sci-fi.
I'd never thought of merlin in terms like Geezer before. -grin-
I find this Bright Gem to be so inbued with Pure Unadulturated Creative FREEDOM and intriguing development, more cool twists and turns that a 6-pack of Hitchcock thrillers, that I am completely THRILLED that I finally came to look in on my Friend Penni!

I often see fantasy in the sci-fi section of the bookstore. So I would say it flies well ;)
You'll find that Merlin is very moody, give him a large mug of Ole English beer and a loaf of fresh baked bread with a bowl of thick peasants stew and he'll become sleepy. Just before the first snore and not a moment sooner or later, ask of him what you will...and it will be granted.

It was neat to find out I was related to the most Revered magi EVER, Sheila......... The dino/lizard blood was wayyy last year, and I can still taste it...good thing people don't want to try, there wouyldn't be a lizard around for hundres of miles.....
I think dinosaurs that can become smaller to adapt is kind of sciene fictiony.... After all, do we REALLY know where they CAME from in the First place?

I've always pictured Merlin as being partial to blue or black. Glowing orange... Hmm... Guess that explains why he's so reclusive--too easy to pick out of a line up.

penni, this is very mesmerizing. It draws me in and makes me want to know where it is going. I would never think I'd like a story where someone tasted lizard's blood, but you made it so. I don't think you need Merlin's power, I suspect you have enough of your own.
