Saturday, I officiated a wedding at Dauset Trails in Jackson Georgia. I posted a photo essay about the wedding elsewhere and will be posting more photos later, but right now I want to share photos and tell you about this great park.We were there Friday for the rehearsal and Saturday for the wedding.
Dauset Trails is not only lovely, but it has many animals on display throughout the park. There are bison, owls, a cougar, a black bear, and lots of farm animals scattered along the Animal Trail. Most of the wild animals were injured and were rehabilitated, but could not be returned to the wild.
We did not get to see the animals, because we were so involved in the rehearsal, then the wedding and reception, but I want to go back and walk around and look at them.
I did go downstairs at the Welcome Center where we had the reception to see the reptiles in the Wonder Room. There are a variety of snakes on display in glass cages, including mocassins, cottonmouths, and others.
Aside from that, the only animals we saw were ducks, and geese. One goose actually tried to attend the ceremony:

The flowers around the Welcome Center were beautiful:
And the lake area where the chapel was located was also peaceful and lovely:

Even though Jackson is an hour and a half away from Marietta on a good day, I still want to go back this summer and take the grandkids to see the animals. It is free, and would be a wonderful place for a family outing.
