Sad News at Work

We just heard that a coworker lost her baby over the weekend. She was 8 months pregnant and we don't know exactly what happened.  I feel so sad for her.  She's a very sweet person and it's just horrible that she has to go through such tragic thing.

Having gone through such a loss myself, it will be devastating for her. The only real advice I would offer is to not be afraid to talk to her about her baby. You will not make her more sad by doing so . . . the worst part for me was when everyone acted like it never happened.
That really breaks my heart-what she must be going thru-prayers are being sent.

A miscarriage has to be one of the hardest tragedies one must have to go through in this lifetime. We don't know how to talk about death in general in our society but when someone loses a baby that far along, it's like you've lost the ability to find words.

Blessings to your co-worker, just be supportive of her during her time of grief. Encourage her (if you have a close relationship) to seek out a supportive group that will help her with her mourning.

That is so awful. I don't blame you for not knowing what to say. One of my childhood friends lost her baby at the 6th month of her pregnancy, and I felt the same way.

We are signing a card. But other than that..... we don't really know what else we can do. She's not returning to work for a while.

Later on you could ask her to tell you about the baby, when the time is right. Because after all, she and the dad did have a baby.

That is so very sad. I had 3 miscarriages but they were early term. I cannot imagine 8 months.

What a tragic thing to happen. I think she probably will need someone to just listen. Keep in touch with her while she's not working and see if there is anything you can do.

So tragic, I wonder why they couldn't save it at 8 months. My nephews wife had to remain confined to bed for half her pregnancy.

There's really nothing one can say under such circumstances.

Been there, just under different circumstances. Unfortunately, things happen for a reason, some we don't understand for awhile and or may never understand. I hope she has support from friends and family while she grieves over her loss, it is a terrible thing to have happened to her.

That is so sad. I can not imagine what she is going through. Just be there for her if she needs a shoulder to just cry on or someone to listen to her...
