If you saw my review of IBrain, you know that when I took the test in the book I did not score as tech addicted. But today, I found out that does not mean I am not tech dependent!
I stated my workday online at 9;30 as usual, and stopped at 12 to have lunch. Usually I take about half an hour after lunch to clean, and then I go back to work onine at 1 and work til 5 when I get on here.
But today I decided to vacuum. In the course of doing that, I did two things: I caused the surge protector on the power strip to shut the power down and I accidentally unplugged something on the router.
After a while, I figured out that the surge protector had tripped, and not a fuse or something. But then I could not figure out what in all the mass of wires we have around here had come unplugged.
Finally, I gave up, accepted the fact that I could not finish my work, which means I will have to do it tomorrow, and spent the afternoon doing some email maintenance (that means deleting the email I'd saved from 2001-2007, for the most part, and reading all the new email that didn't have links that had to be followed.)
Once I accepted my fate, it was sort of relaxing not to be able to work or pay the bills and to be forced to do something slower paced. And I discovered that right before I got disconnected, I got email from a publisher who contacted ME to see if I am interested in doing a paranormal book about Marietta or another city in Georgia. I had been planning to contact them, but they contacted ME. Wow!
And then I got my proof copy of Ghost to Coast Tours and Haunted Places, and I LOVE the cover. I am going to have to fix the picture on the back, which does make me look lean and tall, but is obviously distorted, and I think I'm going to make the text a little bigger and the pictures slightly bigger as well, but I'm really pleased with it overall.
And I got my check for my online research work at Chiropractic Universe, Diabetes Library, Dental Universe and ThINKplaza, so I have Christmas money!
Which proves to me that while I would be in bad trouble if the computer stopped working for long, good things CAN happen even when I can't work or get online.
