So, we went to Pewitt's last week and collected a variety of leaf colors from green to brown and everything in between.
Here's our bounty from Pewitt's Nest.

I organized them according to color in a 3-drawer organizer and this is what I had after our Pewitt's Nest collection.

Yesterday we went to Natural Bridge to collect more leaves for the project. We had no idea how many we;d need, but we knew one thing: We didn't want to run out of leaves. So, we collected all the nice ones we saw.Gideon collecting the leaves at Natural Bridge.

He really liked those red leaves back there.

Our bounty from Natural Bridge.

The leaves all sorted and mixed together.

We got started on our pictures. Gideon started with a penny, since he's been learning about money in school.

Almost done!

A few more additions and done!

Clint decided to do a tree.

Then he added a bird.

Bird is complete with a natural eye.

Then he finished it off with a cloud and rain.

I originally planned to do a dragon like in the drawing from the book, but I wanted something different. I looked at the leaves and decided on a butterfly.

Of course, I chose purple paper to do my butterfly on, LOL.

Wings all done.

Add some antennaes and all done.

Then we started on a second picture each. This was so much fun that we really thought why not do another?
Gideon did a sun, his favorite thing to draw.

All done.

I decided on a fish, after seeing that big leaf that I used for the body.

He, too has a natural eye, courtesy of some bug. I did shape the nose and face a tiny bit with scissors.

Then I added bubbles and a plant.

Clint made a fox for his second picture.

Gideon will be taking his pictures (and ours, too, if he wants - last I heard he does want to take them, too) to show and tell tomorrow.
Want a fun night of art and imagination? Collect some leaves and make leaf paintings with your family. I bet you'll all enjoy it as much as we did!
