So what's on clearance that you should pick up?
For those of you with babies and toddlers, I highly recommend balls that are compatible for indoors. A specific brand that is on sale is called "Splash bombs". They are like Nerf balls, but are on clearance because they are specifically for summer kiddie pools, and thus you'll find them on clearance in the summer items aisles. These are simply soft foam toys shaped like frisbees, softballs and footballs.
Why are they such a Bargain?
These toys are machine washable, so when they get yucky, you simply toss them in the laundry. Since they are nothing but foam, you don't have to worry about babies mouthing the toys, and they start at the size of a softball so there are no choking hazards. They are very soft and light, so you don't have to worry about broken windows, plates, furniture, etc. Your children can hurl them as hard as they can, and no bumps or bruises will result - even when my 3 year old son was hurling these balls at my 12-month old daughter. Because they are designed to be in the water, they can double up as bath toys.
A 4-pack of these balls was on clearance at Target for $2 and change, and I bought the last 2 packs at my local Target. Check your local big box store for these clearance items. Save a pack or two for one of those cold winter days as a "treat" for your kids.
Has anyone found a good versatile toy for the summer that is currently on clearance at the stores? Post your recommendations!

Clearance: the only way to shop!
oh, we have some of those for the pool
I was doing well with my percentage savings but then it bombed and I had to clean out my savings for other things...I'm really upset about it. One savings was just to look for clearance items for gift giving
thanks

Kids like the simple toys, too. It's getting hard to find a toy that doesn't need a battery.
I love clearance
