It is a sad thing to get so caught up in your home teams that you cannot watch the games themselves. We only have one TV and, heaven forbid, someone does something wrong! We just cannot afford to throw stuff at our one and only TV. With that, we bravely visit NLB.com to find out the scores. Can't do that either. We get a little too much tummy action, especially when Rollins waited until the bottom of the 9th inning to win that one game in the play-offs.
But, we've been Phillies Phans for ages. Well, I've been. Got hubby hooked before we married. Before the Phillies made it to their first World Series win – ever. The one that waited for us around our wedding – the one in 1980.
Lost interest for a while. A long while. The strike of 1982 bothered me. When they struck again the following year, I struck them back. Stopped watching. Heard about this new kid a couple of years ago. A rookie. Ryan Howard. Michael Jack (Schmitty around here) said this kid was going to out do him. HIM! Michael Jack Schmitt?! Holy Cow! Had to learn. Kid's good. Kid's great! Kid's in his third year and Schmitty's prediction has already been proven. Kid got us to the World Series last year. Kid helped us win the World Series last year. Kid wasn't the entire team, and it was an entire team effort. (Even one of our pitchers hit a home run last year.)
Last year's World Series, not the right amount of fun. Tampa Bay?! What's wrong with that town? Fans there were actually nice to Phillies' Phans?! What's wrong with that town? I'd say that's why they lost, but, face it, Phillies! Damn good!!!
Brings us to this year – this World Series, the Phillies second World Series win in a row. Yeah, they'll win it. No doubts. ('bout time. Phillies – oldest baseball team around, and yet this is only our third World Series win?! What's wrong with this town?)
New York. They get it! They're wrong, but they get it. It's all about the smack! It's all about the rivalry. OK, granted, we don't really rivalry with NYC, except the Giants, but only because it's a sports divisions thing. We don't face the Yanks, unless we get to the World Series, but, face it, NYC and Philly have history. We both know who the best is, but you can't tell the truth in NY. Well, you can but would face the possibility of serious physical injury.
NYers aren't nice to Phillies' Phans. Good! They get it! Nothing wrong with NY, except they actually THINK they're better. lol (I know – not supposed to lol in writing, but damn if that's not lol!!!!) NY Post had a picture of Utley (the guy who got two home runs last night) in a cheerleader's outfit. How's it feel today, NY?! You just got beat by a cheerleader – by "The Frillies." Did you notice how scared our pitcher was of you? Those cute little hits right to him were fun. Don't know if I liked the casual-hand-out-relaxed pose or the caught-it-behind-his-back pose better, but all's fun, right? ;)
The city, who gets Mrs. President and Mr. and Mrs. Vice President, plus thousands of celebs coming to the game think we're Frilly?! The city who makes commercial celebs out of their baseball players thinks we're Frilly?! Funny stuff!
Yankees think they're something special. Apparently, they don't have a good concept of present tense and past tense. They WERE something. Phillies ARE something. Maybe they need some English lessons. You know NYers can't talk good! ;)
Just read something from a Boston fan. Remember them? The Boston Red Sox?! They broke the Bambino's curse a while back. Won the Big Game, finally. They know our pain, BUT they also think that broken curse gave the Phillies a chance to beat the Damn Yanks. Nope. Phillies will win, because they're THAT good!
We live close enough to our stadium to hear the cheers for every home run, every good play, and every touchdown. Heard the cheers last night too, and the game was in NYC! It was a good cheer. It was a hometown cheer. Last night, the Phillies gave the New York Yankees their first of four Bronx Cheers. Did you hear that, NY?!
Yeah! You're going down!
And, by God, thanks for playing this right! Real baseball, real football, real sports HAS to have some good old fashioned smack!
Are you learning yet, Tampa Bay?! ;)

Ah well at least I still like shooting guns and blowing stuff up :)
I don't mind women that like guy things; I think it is cool when they can both shoot a gun and have a feminine side though. Be a girl yet be able to blow a target away at 800 meters, heh.
As for guns - I can't hit the broad side of an apartment building just tossing something, so I've always known I should never shoot one. The person behind me could be in danger. lol
