*Applause* I don't flag anyone but myself, since I am, of course, responsible for the comments that are made on my post (this is not flagged, I will not cuss), but even with all my flagging? I still get flagged. Go figure.

Wait, I did a post Flag This too and it's amazing how many people JUST on that post that said they'd been flagged. You're right! There's a conspiracy here, the flaggers are trying to take over - are we going to let them? NO!

Yes, you're exactly right, but when people flag an article I think 4 times, Gather's automatic program kicks in and makes the post invisible to everyone but you. IF it ever gets unflagged, you've lost the discussion, which is usually rational and good, and interest.

That's an awfully sad way to be, but it's happening more and more on here. People have even had their points frozen for this. It needs to be stopped.

I've actually flagged - and told why, too. I think flagging would come back down to reasonable, IF flaggers actually had to show what they were doing. If I'm truly convicted that something needs flagging, then I should be willing to openly explain.

We tried that, the openly explaining before and G wouldn't go for it. But just the talking about someone getting flagged in posts like this, helps get it wayyy down, it worked before and it can work again.

There's no way that someone shouldn't be able to look at a recipe, find a freebie (in THIS economy?) and help themselves and others in the finding them. As far as I've known there IS NO reason to flag either one.

It's so wrong and it's got to stop, because if it doesn't, pretty soon nobody will bother writing anything on here. What's the point?

Apparently, I need to say this on this post -
Of course I'm not a Flagging Franny. I wrote this to ruin thier power. This a pure poke at those who will not let us read recipes, help people, get freebies, tell erotic stories, or openly tell our beliefs. We cannot tell them what we think face-to-face. We are stuck with a company that doesn't care. You bet - this is a full-fledge, no-holds-bar attempt at getting back to what this site is supposed to be about! And, on that one - NO joke!

I had a joke flagged because it was politically wrong in some peoples' minds. I am all for if you flag, then you need to say why.

Otherwise all flagging is: Is a means to restrict open dialog and force people into what the flagger feels is appropriate.

What I have been doing on my post is making them need my approval. The reason is not to deny people of different views but to stop the name calling or statement like "you enjoy killing puppies" and "you hate ______ (place any race, religion, or sexual orientation in the blank)." Dialog and debate are the exchanging ideas, not for flaming people.

I think we actually met each other on a post where I told what I would do, and end up doing what I said, if anyone dared to waste comment space to assume they know what others are thinking - to blame others. I enjoy a good debate, I don't tolerate bad debate techniques like the "you people are all...." I simply delete the comment on my posts. Still don't know why that's frowned on, but don't have to flag myself for what others say. lol

"Report this as potentially inappropriate " Yes, some folks here are drunk with power and they abuse the "Reporting" Process.

When someone is harassing you, you can and should report it, if someone steals your post text and breaks it into "more manageable sections" report them yet, the TOS are not enforced correctly, they are reversed all too frequently.

I have a complaint submitted to them about someone stealing my post text, admitted it after commenting on my post. She has actually been to College, which I find more insulting as plagiarism is something she should be aware of as a word and concept, unless she used that tact to navigate college. I do not know or care about her intent or her background, she is a thief and popular!

I would love to out her yet, I am playing it safe and only revealing the issue details to Gather support. Resolution is a dream so I am not holding my breath on Gather doing the "Right" thing.

Actually, I've seen a post where people proved that another Gather member did nothing but steal from other writers - teenage poets from other sites. Big ta-do, but was never flagged. Because of the size of the comment section and a whole lot of proof, Gather acted and acted quickly. Squeaky wheels get greased. Make noise, and, if for no other reason than silence, people will take care of the noise quickly. Kinda why we're doing this.

I sent them the post url and all the confirming info I could think of I am not one to out someone yet, if Gather does nothing I will blacklist her from my feeds, I am not connected to her and when I see her comments in other threads I can ask her who she stole it from.

Gather makes life so messy and all they need to do is to act defensively on the TOS and dismissively on the petty repetitive squealers!
