My Hubby has worked in the same factory for over 20 years. He has worked ALL of the shifts. Came home one day last week, said they are laying off 95 people and eliminating one shift. Came home last night, now they say that they will be laying off a total of 200 people, down to 2 shifts, and now they are shutting down this Friday, he can take it without pay or use a vacation day. They have NEVER shut down on Fridays before, not sure if this is going to be an ongoing thing or just once in awhile they will shut down on Friday. Of course, being close to the end of the year, hardly anyone has vacation days left. Hubby has a few, not sure what he is going to do. He was saving those last vacation days to use around Christmas. I do not think we have to worry about his job (but then again you never know). HE says they would have to close the plant before he would be unemployed. Let's hope it does NOT get that bad.
Just taking one day at a time (or maybe that is one week at a time). Hopefully they will NOT have to lay off 200 people. This factory is THE major employer in our town.
Always sad when they have to do layoffs this close to Christmas....

the left out of some sad 60's vision of helping the world, the right out of a need to lower labor costs to raise dividends... (as was a large part of the left's unspoken agenda...)..
meanwhile we are the ones getting screwed.

They could move out of Michigan, but who would buy the homes?
Remember on November 4th.
UGH! (that's all I can say)!!
We've been somehow making it while I'm on medical disability plus Gary's income but we also had to put some expenditures including groceries on our credit cards more than once since I have not being able to work since February 1. Hoping I could return full-time by the new year to eradicate our bills a bit more.
Hope things work out for you
I will keep you in my prayers.....remember, God WILL take care of you through the difficult times..........I know it's scary, but you WILL survive, and you WILL get through it all........We went from over $80,000 a year, down to $10,000 and were able to survive with NO help from anybody OR the government!
God bless you!
And DH was only 3 years from retirement? Oh Man! That sucks big time!
My DH has 4 more years to go. Holding our breath.
