Is Colin Powell an immoral traitor?

Astute observation.

Powell made a cogent, strong presentation to Brokaw. Whether it sways anyone or not, I hope persons of both persuasions listen and consider.

Limbaugh is a blowhard. The radio version of tabloid news. Libaugh's fans (short for fanatics) are likened to those soap opera fanatics who cannot tell the difference between the soap opera villianess, and the actress who plays her. walking up to her, upon a chance meeting, and telling her off, or worse yet, slapping her.

I have great respect for Powell and had hoped HE'D run...

that said I doubt he'd have jumped party (or even expressed an opinion) for a white candidate. He never had before.

They must be stomping their feet about this. I think party loyalty has to come second to what you believe is best for the country.

He happens to be one of the growing legions of Republicans standing up for what is right and endorsing the candidate that is Right for America NOW.

Good point Neil. I think it is funny to hear RIght wingers call Colin Powell a racist for standing up for what he believes. Some of those very same people are the ones who would go out of their way to make it known how much they admired Colin Powell and would even say things like "He could be our first black President". But you knew when you heard them say it that it was the last thing they wanted to happen. They just said stuff like that so that people would think highly of them for having such elevated views. And it would serve (they thought) to hide the fact that they were really racists in their hearts. Maybe they even wanted to believe those pretty things they said. But when their guy endorses the smart choice, out comes the race card. A black man can't really have an opinion about what is good for the country. Just like a tax break for the middle class is really "welfare" (and you know what that means). I am constantly astounded by the shallowness and hypocrisy I am seeing played out in this campaign.

What is really scary is that given the chance the right wingers would prefer to elect any of their left-hating shock-jock pundits ... pres rush l, pres bill o, pres shaun h, pres ann c. ... what a "value" system ... (lack of).

Imagine the amount of money Limbaugh followers are conned out of daily lol.

I think Powell was doing what he thought was right but I also think he was taking some revenge for the way Bush used him for a scape goat. I think Powell sees McCain as another Bush and decided we had enough of Bush and need some real leadership while their is still an America to lead.

Colin Powell is a MAVERICK!

What happened to all the feel good, reaching across party lines, bi-partisanship argument? I guess Obama doesn't really need to reach that far, everyone's gravitating towards him on their own accord, and for good reason.

Powell is to be commended for having the courage to stand up and knowing the flack he was going to get.....be honest about what is happening and he sees something very wrong...he is not necessarily being disloyal to his Republican ideology...but he is not going to stand by and see it being abused. and be loyal just because the title says Republican..and it most certainly has been. Limbaugh and the other pundits who make a living by ridicule and rude antagonistic comments that some refer to as funny - make a serious concern worse by their implications...they breed a certain aggression among what should be adults, and support childish, selfish tantrum behavior...the very thing that most of those adults that listen to them would not allow their own kids to behave or listen to...Thanks for posting!

Couldn't disagree more, Doc. Read the transcript from his interview on Meet the Press and you will see Colin Powell's endorsement is based on rational, intelligent reasoning. He is clearly putting his country above political party. If Sen. Obama wins, I'm confident he will surround himself with people of all political parties and viewpoints so that he can make more informed decisions. You can already see him doing that with his economic advisers, and foreign policy advisers in this campaign.
