Today, Julie and Julia premieres in theatres and has everyone quite abuzz. The film depicts events in the life of chef Julia Child, contrasting her life with Julie Powell, a woman who attempts to cook all 524 recipes from Child's autobiography for her personal blog. Julia Child introduced French cuisine and cooking techniques to the American mainstream through her many cookbooks and TV shows, which were a staple in many households. Did your Mom or Dad use Julia Child’s recipes in your home growing up? What other cookbooks or recipes were a staple in your household? Any notable egg dishes from the cookbooks that you continue to make today? Let us know, and, Bon Appétit!

I doubt my mother used her cookbook. She did have the Joy of Cooking, though.
She basically invented her own recipes.
My first cookbook was Betty Crocker. It was the same one we used in home ech. Larry still gets Betty out once in awhile to check on sauces.
I don't tend to use a recipe as written. I will the first time. Then from then on I edit it to make it mine.
