These pretty little puffy cookies are a favorite in this house, especially for Stephy. They are so easy to make too, easy enough that the kids can do most of it all on their own!
INGREDIENTS:
- 3 egg whites
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
- assorted pastel gel food coloring
- sprinkles, sugar crystals and/or silver decorating balls
Preheat oven to 250 degrees and line cookie sheets with foil.
In large bowl, whip egg whites until they peak. Slowly add sugar, a spoonful at a time. Add cream of tartar, extract and food coloring. Continue beating until a stiff peak is formed.
Spoon mounds onto the foil lined cookie sheets, about 1/2 inch apart. Sprinkle with sprinkles, sugar crystals and/or decorating balls. Place on the center oven rack and bake for 1 hour. After 1 hour, open the oven door and turn off the oven. Leave the cookies in the oven for an additional 10 - 15 minutes!
ENJOY the puffy perfections!
