My incredible mom

I know everyone thinks their mom was great but my mom truly was.  She passed away in 92' and it took her passing and my (years later) having children to truly appreciate how incredible she really was. 

She raised NINE kids (lost 4 in miscarriages and still births which were more common back then) and kept us all clothed and fed.  She never lost any of us.  None of us ever turned to drugs or became any kind of abuser of any substance or of people. She defended us or punished us when we needed it.  She instilled in us a deep sense of family and we always had wonderful holidays full of food and laughter. 

Now trying to do those same things with my much smaller family I wonder how mom did all of that with so many of us to make feel special.  After her death, we all sat around talking and we realized we all had differnt ideas as to who we thought was mom's favorite.  It was truly amazing that so many of us felt special because of the little things she had done with us.  My mom truly was incredible.
