Om Mondays, particularly, he attends a storytime at the local library. Here he gets to spend 30 minutes with children of all ages for some fun stories read by a wonderful librarian that does the funniest character voices. They also do songs, rhymes, finger plays and more. After the end of the story program they settle in for a craft or two. This is what Gideon looks forward to most - the crafts!
Last night they read about four books and then Gideon sat down to make some silly glasses and a Booker (mascot for the children's department at the library) hat. He just had a BLAST.
However, the other days of the week are up to us to field as there's nothing in the school or community going on to do. So, at home we talk about his day at school, then we relax with some TV maybe a video game played as a family, some crafts (often items he will bring to school for show and tell.) If the weather is nice we might go to the zoo, park, hike or go to one of the natural areas to explore. We try to do things - even the show and tell crafts - as a family so that it's a learning experience and fun for us all as well as spending that all important family time together.
The only thing that worries me is what happens when we run out of activities? LOL Well, here's hoping we'll never get to that point. :)
Below are the crafts he made last night at storytime.
