I'll go ahead and comment on my favorite egg recipe...deviled eggs. I mix the yolks with tiny amounts of mayo and mustard, add a few diced onions, a little bit of relish and a pack of sweet and low. I can eat a dozen of them!
I don't know what she was cooking...looked sort of good, sounded sort of good, using a lot of ingredients that I don't know anything about.
She is teaching the kids good breakfast habits and that helps them all day:)
and will stay with them in the future:)
Teachers have impact on their students lives is so many ways... food choices is a great one on which to capitalize.
Have a wonderful day..
Angel
And positive messages for our children from teachers are nice, too.
Oh and I love gnocci too. I have my grandfathers recipe( he was the cook of our large Italian family before he died)that I make .
No eggs on this episode for me either.
Gather, you had to pick the one person on TV that I won't watch????
WHY, does she need both oil and butter for the onions? That doesn't seem healthy to me.
Gnocchi #1
Gnocchi #2
Isabella Rossellini. was todays celebrity.
I also joined her web site and entered the contests there
These children were learning a valuable lesson from their teacher that hopefully will carry through their adult lives as well.
Where were the egg recipes?
I'm a big fan of the "Incredible Edible Egg" myself. It's so versatile, and hits the spot on an egg sandwich when I'm in the mood for a hearty breakfast. Thanks for the heads up on the Channel 8 show here in Oregon Faith. It's up against Dr. Phil in this time slot.
Thanks April I want to download those recipes too.
I hope you do this again soon.
I'm watching the show now. Rachel starts out with a guest who coordinated "Celebrity for the Day" outings -- complete with limo, VIP treatment on the town and a team of paparazzi photographers for her clients. Interesting business plan, that I"m sure will pay off in celebrity-fueled LA.
As to your questions Stefanie:
1) Tell us what you thought of the show: I enjoyed watching Isabella. She brought up some interesting points about the confines of producing video for cell-phone video watchers, who she says are looking for original 2 to 5 minute clips rather than recycled TV shows. Might Gather consider a cell phone feed for its reader-submitted video shorts? ; )
2) Will you be trying any recipes? Which ones? Ahh, I do see eggs in the teacher's segment. Not a "recipe" I would try however. Also, the Italian dish looked interesting, but I'm not a fan of anything combining meat and potatoes (unless you're talking about German Potato salad with bacon...mmmmm).
3) Were you inspired by the Incredible Person? Yes. Every person who helps others is an inspiration to us all!
4) Do you know any Incredible People who are helping children live healthy lives? A few....
5) And more! Thanks to the cab driver Eugene, I now completely believe that drunk people are indeed the worst part of driving a cab. ; )
* Will you be trying any recipes? Which ones? Not today, but I have tried some of her recipes in the past and loved them
* Were you inspired by the Incredible Person? I'm always inspired by incredible people.
* Do you know any Incredible People who are helping children live healthy lives? Yes I do.
Making fresh home made egg noodles is my favorite way to use eggs!
i LUV gnocchi and will be trying rachael's recipe with the sirloin.
i always try to catch a glimpse of what rachael's cooking. i can appreciate her tasty, no nonsense, no fuss recipes that use ingredients that we always have on hand.
my mom! over the last few months shes been trying to incorporate healthier cooking techniques in my kitchen. ive been trying to use more olive oil rather than vegetable or corn oils. ive also been using my slow cooker and oven as opposed to frying foods like chicken and fish.
2) Will you be trying any recipes? Which ones? I love potato dumplings and caramalized onions. Rachel makes anything look good. I will be trying her recipe with the ground sirloin and gnocci.
3) Were you inspired by the Incredible Person? Definitely. We need more teachers like the one on the show. The students that were there from her class seemed really inspired.
4) Do you know any Incredible People who are helping children live healthy lives? Yes, my cousin.
5) And more! The cab driver Eugene, he was precious. I wonder how many are actually as sweet as he is. Very good personality. Seems to really enjoy his job. He was determined to find a mystery gust for the show...and he did get his to go box. Funny!
I catch Rachel whenever I can, because she is a great cook who connects with her audience on a personal level. You feel like you are talking to your best friend in your own living room.
Her show did not have the egg segment - at least in my area.
Recipes: I like and have tried several of her recipes. I've tried everything from shepherd's pie to her five minute fudge. Sure, I'd love to try out a new recipe with eggs.
The breakfast ideas were great - as always. Sensible nutrition and great food - gotta love that. Easy to do too:)
Incredible persons: I do love Isabella, but she was not on. I have to say I am impressed with Rachel's guests in general - I do take away inspiration for a healthy lifestyle and great food that's good for you and your family.
She makes a special effort to include segments for kids and those are fun to watch. all the kids in our family know her and love her segments.
Incredible persons - For kids and cooking - Rachel tops my list, but I have to say her guests on the show are all incredible persons.
Let me add that a long time ago when I was a kid we had a chicken farm and to this day I love eggs. We like eggs for breakfast in any form, as an omelet, as a soft boiled egg, as egg benedict - you name it. Nothing fluffs up a souffle any better than egg white or makes a pie even more special than a fluffy meringue pie topping and at any party the deviled eggs are always a favorite.:)
I love her guests and the fun, engaging and often educational aspect of her show.
