I finished reading Such a Pretty Fat by Jen Lancaster, and it was an amusing look at the challenges of losing weight in a caustic manner. She loves food, but eventually came to the conclusion, and a book contract, that she really needed to lose weight. She tries both Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers, and weighs in on the mostly cons, although Weight Watchers has more going for it than Jenny Craig, at least in the author's opinion.
In some ways it's a little hard to relate to this, as she comes across as spoiled and self indulgent. Not to mention that she had the luxury of hiring a personal trainer to help her push her through her exercise. But in so many other regards, like the frustration of losing weight and being put into positions with lots of temptations around her, that was certainly very relatable. I also liked how she grew as a person throughout the book. She came to the conclusion that she needs to stop viewing food through a love hate relationship, and just eat and exercise sensibly. Food is a part of life, and to not have a healthy relationship with it really throws a person out of wack.
I did really enjoy this read about someone's struggle with weight loss, and would highly recommend this for the humor and insights Jen Lancaster gained from the experience.

I wonder how much she got paid to write on behalf of her book contract. Money will change anyone's attitude about food. Writing about food becomes her new profit center., for the luxury of that personal trainer. I hope she maintains the new weight image.
But I'll listen to anyone who wants to moan about the challenge of losing weight. After all, I've been there!
