Author: Ursula Hegi
I have read some great work by this author and some work that didn't, well, work.
This was somewhere in between. Although it's a small book, it took me a long time to read. The story is told in alternating voices of the characters in the book: Three young people who grew up together and ended up all loving each other - very confusing relationships; an older woman - called an aunt, though no blood relation, just a close friend of the younger woman's mother; a little girl - not quite the child of the younger people, but being raised by them - she's the daughter of the young woman's mother who died... she's being raised by her much older sister.
The story is complicated, the setting is beautiful.
I like this author, but maybe, not this book.
